The Detroit show is coming up fast and there should be a good variety of vendors. I need to start getting a few supplies, so we'll be swinging by. I wondered what everyone is using for show leads. 25 years ago the biggest decision was white or black, heavy or lightweight. Now there seems to endless choices.

Do I pick a color which matches my dogs coat, contrasts the coat or wildly grabs the judges attention?
Should the lead be a one piece or go with a collar and seperate lead?
Should the collar be mesh, leather or fine herringbone chain?

I shopped a little when we were at the Novi show and the choices blew me away. I tried to pay attention while watching Westmeinster, but everyone was using something different. I'd be interested to see what works for others.

You should use a lead that matches your dog's coat. My fave kind of lead is a one-piece Resco. Here's a picture of Timber with one on:

Hope this helps!

Hi Dapple Dandy, I just read your post and saw that there will be a show in Detroit. We live in the Detroit area and being a new dachsie owner, are not familiar with the shows. Would you mind to let us know when the show is and where it will be located? I would love to see other dachshunds - they are all so cute. Thanks for replying and I hope you find just the perfect collar and lead for your little sweetie pie. Novi show also?
