I spend quite a bit of money on toys for Mandy and Buddy. The toys are either loved to pieces (literally ) or ignored. Buddy has discovered his own brand of toy , the plastic water container. Today he found an empty gallon water jug and started pushing it around the kitchen floor with his nose and then he grabbed the handle in his mouth and started carrying it around with him. It's so funny to watch because that jug was almost bigger than he is. I did make sure to keep an eye on him when he was playing with it so he wouldn't chew off a piece of plastic and swallow it. He is also amused by socks , hats , gloves , underwear , etc. :raz:
Mandy , however , is only interested in toys that squeak or make some sort of noise . They are usually the most expensive toys we buy .
 That's my girl.

...when I read about the plastic jug toy Buddy took as his toy!! Willy likes the 20 oz. soft drink or water bottles...he will chase & chew it til it's good for nothing but the trash can...loving every minute of it!! :bounce:

Last week, our dogs got a new "toy" too. Our normal peanut butter jar was empty, and Sammy was acting up a little bit. Since we were involved in something at the moment, we just threw the plastic jar on the floor. No, there wasn't enough peanut butter to fool with, yet he licked the little that was in there clean. Well, the top half anyway. The good stuff is all gone by now, yet he still guards it for dear life. Molly was so upset that we had to take a strong plastic cup and smear a little peanut butter on the inside so she'd think she had a jar too. More than anything, I think they mostly like to carry them up on the couch and let them fall back off. They will do that over and over until it's naptime.

Take a 20 oz plastic pop bottle, remove the plastic screw off top, neck band and label. Place the naked bottle into a knee sock, preferably white cotton and tie the top of the sock into knots. I shove the bottle as far down as I can, to give them more knots. (I have an advantage because my husband is 6'6" and his socks are really long.) Once the sock gets nasty, cut it off the bottle and you have a whole new toy! Two for the price of one. I've also made this a noisy variation, by adding dry beans to the bottle and gluing the top on. It doesn't last as long, once the sock is history I throw the whole thing out. I don't trust my crew with the top.
**If your dog is especially distructive, do not leave the top or neck bands on the plastic bottes or jugs. They can get it off very quickly and choke!**
