UGGGGGGGGGH. I just got like 5 little microscopic ticks off Maddie. She just had frontline within the last two weeks. They looked like little specks of dirt...I was positive one really was dirt until I looked really close and it was MOVING. They are so tiny. She's really hyper right now and will NOT lay down and let me check her anymore.
I HATE BUGS.
Do you have Lyme Disease in your area? The deer ticks that spread Lymes are very tiny. I found one on me when I lived in Pennsylvania, and I couldn't tell that it was a tick until I looked at it under a strong magnifying lens.

Ahh yes... little baby deer ticks. We know them well!
There was a 12 month period where we did nightly tick checks on 6 (or 7... if we had a foster) dogs. We would find them around pads, on the ears... just about anywhere.
We used Advantix... no help. We had our yard treated... no help... our saving grace... Preventic Collars. They are really the only thing that saved us from our pre-bed checks. You can find more about the collars at http://www.preventic.com/. Vets offices usually sell them.
Florida has VERY low numbers of lyme cases that cannot be tracked back to someone getting it out of state... so chances there are very low. Also... a tick must feed for 12 hours before it can start infecting the host with lyme bacteria.
Good Luck. Check out the collars if ticks become an issue for you... they saved us!
