...they are getting their nails trimmed? Are they held, do they lie down? Here is Engli, and we use a dremmel...

Most have to stand and I either dremel or use the clippers Bandito and Amber will come running :bouncy1: but the rest I have to chase down. Charlie we have to throw atowel over him and put a strangle hold on him and hope he can't bite you because hes out for blood :karate:

Most times when I dremel Buddy, he is laying on his back between my legs with his head resting on my thigh. He will only allow it if he's given slices of carrots - with that of course you could most likely dremel off the whole toe and he wouldn't object so long as you continued feeding him. My oldest feeds him while I sand away.
Sometimes we do it outside and then he will just lie across my lap with his head towards whichever side my son is sitting on.

I am taking Ty to get his nails trimmed every 10 days to get them short and then I will get a dremel and try to keep them trimmed up myself.
I am just so afraid to get the quick if I cut them myself.

First of all..Engli is SO CUTE. His little face just begs to be kissed!
That is how I hold Hope to trim her nails. It's how her breeder used to do her nails and what she is accustomed to. Easy as pie.
Tammy is too stiff and unsure (former puppy mill girl) so I do hers while my husband holds her or by having her lay on the kitchen table.
Oliver my fighter I do while he is on the floor. One paw at a time..one paw per day.

Engli is a girl! Hard to tell by the name, but it's supposed to mean Angel in another language, which she is. We got her right before her 5th birthday so we kept it, but no one can remember it! Family just call her little cow.
You can see the dalmation bronzing pretty good in those pics. Her white doesn't look white, but bronzed, which is an indicator of allergies.

I thought they were both boys, my mistake! She is adorable!! (Little cow as in little holstein cow?) lol.
I had another look and I can see the bronzing on her. I had no idea that was a sign of allergies!

She's completely adorable and such a good little girl!
I just do nails with nail cutters and dremmel to smooth, in whichever position they happen to be in, when I get the notion to trim their nails. My dremmel conks out afer about one paw and I have to recharge the battery. Perhaps time to invest in a new one.
I also get my groomer and vet techs to do them if I happen to have appointments.

You can buy a new rechargeable battery Gayle. Or if you can't find one, I can order one and send it up to you. I have a regular battery operated one but it eats through batteries. I buy the batteries for it in bulk at Costco. I find normally it only does one trimming per battery load. The batteries get so hot! when it is used, I think that is part of the problem. But I like that it is so easily dragged from spot to spot.

How cute little Engli is!! :hearts:I love her pie chest!! Her nails look perfectly trimed also.:party011:
I recently bought the same dremmel for our kids. In our case I love cliping the kids nails but Junji hates it so bad even the groomer I took Junji declined to attempt to clip his nails.( she didn't want to hert his back) Molly is ok with it but I decided to go for the Dremmel.
I am taking time to get them used to the dremmel. I get cheese and call them for " pedicure time". I turn it on and hold their feet and feed cheese daily. Molly let me put it on her nails for a brief moment now and Junji comes to me and let me hold his feet which is a great progress compare to where he was.
Some day they shall have nicely trimed nails like Engli's, I hope.:please1:

Sandy, thank you. I'll let you know if I'll need to trouble you for your kind offer. First I'm going to talk to the guy that sold me the dremmel. For the price I paid, it should hold a charge longer than it does and it's not that old.
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread.

GingerSnap is usually just lying on her belly next to me. I'll ask if she needs her nails done and she'll just let me take her front paws, clip them, and that's that. Back paws are a little more trouble, have to finagle them out from under her, and let her know there's "Only three more...two more, one more, ALL DONE!"
She doesn't like her nails to get too long, she'll try to chew them off if I don't cut them in time.

I just did nails the other day and they still look bad. I always have such good intentions to keep up with them. The boyz let me do them with out to much fuss. Kizzy tries to hide from me. Then gives me the cold shoulder for a few days after.

Mine are held firmly but lovingly by the vet techs, because I am raising three tasmanian devils when it comes to nail trimming. They know they can bully me, so we just take the coward's way out. There have been rumours that Mindy was a sweet natured baby who would let you dremel, but the other two talked her out of that.

I'm usually sitting on the floor whenever I clip her nails. And she lets me do it for the most part. She squirms a little bit, but is okay for the most part. However, when she was younger I used to have to put a towel over her because she used to try to nip.
