Spencer is a 11week old SPOILED mini. I have been feeding him a mix of Wellness (puppy) dry and wet, but for the past two days he has only been nibbling on his food. Normaly by morning time he is starving and eating all his food. Yesterday I gave him only wet to see if he would eat it and he devoured it. I havent seen any difference in his bowel movements to indicate any kind of problem or any other kind of "abnormal" behavior on his part. Has anyone had any experience with this kind of food before? I think he is being a brat and holding out for only wet, what do you all think? Thank you for your input ahead of time.
Hi Spencer13,
Try mixing a tablespoon of PURE pumpkin (not pie mix) in the kibble. You'll likely see a big change. :)

LOL, I think Spencer is learning to push your buttons and trick you into giving him the good stuff... I would continue to mix as usual and if he doesn't eat in 20 mins pick it up until the next feeding time.
I'm sure you will continue to watch for anything abnormal and call the vet if that happens, but I think he is trying to get you trained his way. I haven't tried pumpkin as Mark suggested, sounds like a good idea love to hear the results, because I have a senior that is getting picky.

Sounds like Spencer needs a little tough love! My Sassy was (and still is) such a picky eater, and Ive been through what youre going through when she was younger. Unless you enjoy catering to him during meals, Id say put down his bowl for a few minutes and pick it up after an alloted time if he doesnt eat. He'll just have to wait till his next feeding. (Since hes so young, you probably feed him more than twice a day, so it wont be that long a wait.) It sounds terribly mean--Sassy's stubbornness held out for three full days and I felt like such an awful doxie mom!! But he will eat when he realizes that nothing better is forthcoming. Be strong! Doxies can be masters at manipulation! :D

When I picked up Juney at a little over 12 weeks old, the breeder said that she was still wetting the puppies' food. She said that some dogs like wetter food for awhile. I would say, continue wetting his food, but gradually put in a teaspoon less of water a week.
He may be teething, and if so, it probably hurts, so the wetter food would feel better.

Thank you everyone for your input. As I figured he was just being a stubborn pup. I skipped one of his meals purposely and at dinner time he didnt leave a morsel. He still is picky and will eat a bit and walk away, but when he sees me pick up his bowl he runs right over and barks at me. Needless to say he finishes his meal right away;)
