Oh my. My neighbor came over today, and told me her boss has two daschund puppies she needs to find homes for. So guess where I am going at 5pm today to look at them, lol
She said she has a red male short hair, and long hair black and tan female.
She is thinking of taking one and me the other. I think I will tend torwards the female, as I have two females and they are great. When I have had male fosters, Julie gets possesive of the males, even though she is fixed, so I think the female.
She said they are 10 weeks old. I can not wait to go look at them.

HOW EXCITING!!!! Personally, I prefer males. Just my preference. I think my Cletus is just the best boy in the entire world, and so much more relaxed. I'm not saying that my experience is the same as everyone else's, but I just love me some male doxie! :hearts: When we adopt again, I will go the male route. Clyde was so easy to train!
PLEASE POST PIX! :)

Can't wait to see pics. I have to agree with Barb, I absolutely love Chanel to pieces, but when I was looking for my 3rd I was absolutely determined to get a male.
I find my 2 boys so much more laid back, Chanel is the protector when we go for walks and if anyone goes near Coco or Murray she goes into a barking frenzy. Coco will bark if he hears an unfamilar noise (somebody opening the front porch door, car door closing) but will stop, she just goes crazy over anyone touching either of her brothers.
But that's great, I am thrilled for you, and the pups getting a new home.

That is my Sophie to a T, except she is great on walks etc and will only bark if someone literally comes straight up to us, other then that she ignores everyone. Now if Rambo were there she would be the protector and would bark, etc...I too think I want another boy, hubby def wants another boy, however when I had my foster girl Sophie was inlove with her, so I am stumped. But if you have 2 girls then def for for a 3rd. I have one boy and one girl so thats why I am stumped on my 3rd:wonky:

I don't have a preferance, but do get the girl, so she doesn't fall in the wrong hands of someone that will breed her.

I like both. I love Bailey because he's more affectionate. I call him my "snuggle bunny" he loves to be with you, sitting next to you, etc. Roxy on the other hand is the protector. If we are outside and someone starts walking towards us, she will bark. Bailey runs up to them like "pet me:sillylove:"
I actually read somewhere years ago when I was researching what kind of dog to get that females tend to be more protective because they are mothers. Whether they have puppies or not, that protective instinct is there. Make sense to me.

That's a good point Irma, except that it's the neighbor whose taking whichever one is left, so that's a little safer if she knows the person.
Of course, who's to say the neighbor won't breed her.
Hopefully not.

Those are my 2 kiddos as well. Sophie Ms. Independent and protector but loves her cuddles and affection on her time. Rambo is my shadow, but not in an annoying way, he always is snuggling with me and loves everyone :)

No, my neighbor would not breed . She loves animals. She is the one who brought me over that kitten that needed to be rescued, and she kept her brother, who is now doing very well , and my parents took the female, who spoil her rotten. She has a very expensive litter system, gets lactose free milk, tons of toys, and today is going to learn to drive in the rv, for when they retire, she will not be afraid of it . My mom is even leash training her,lol
I just know all my fosters have been boys and Julie does not like Angel to to be around the boys when she is with them. They both get along with girls. My neighbor brings her female labs here to play in my yard, and they are all best friends. Not only that, I have a male cat who pees in my house when there is male anything in here. He has to proove to cat and dog alike that he is in charge.
I will put some pics on here. What is so cool is my neighbor lives across the street so the litermates can visit and be friends. Im not sure what the female looks like, I assumed black and tan, but she said her boss said multi colored, so do not know, but I am sure I will fall in love with her! I think I already have a name picked out . I am thinking Abagail, but wont know until I see her.

Just got off the phone with her boss. She is running late and will not be home until 7, poohy, lol
She said she is a long red hair with some dappling. The boy is short hair red, no dappling. She said they can be akc registered if I want to pay for it, but I do not plan on show and defintly will not breed, so is it worth it to have the papers?

ok here she is, but this is not a happy story. My neighbor went to her bosses to pick up the puppies, and to her surprise her bosses husband is running a mill in their house! She said the house was full of cages and barley any furniture, she said there must have been hundreds of dogs.
The guy asked her if she would be interested in helping him sell the dogs as he can not find homes in the middle of nowhere. She went to her car and grabbed her camera and said she would try, ( she was taking pictures for evidence)
She said there were all kinds of breeds in there all in cages. She said they looked well fed but that they were mostly unsociable.
This little girl she brought me home, is scared to death. Just shaking. I gave her a bath, and fed her. I have her in the bathroom with a baby gate up. I do not even want to put her back in a crate. She is just whining so bad, I feel so bad for her. She is the sweetest little thing. Gonna have my hands full. Never had a dog that came from a situation like this and will take all the advice I can get. My neighbor is going to put in an anymous report to the sheriffs here, ( she is afraid of loosing her job if she gives her name)
I am just glad this little girl is out of there and her brother. I will also be putting in a report. She wines whenever i am out of her site poor baby. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_K4thd_6Lu8Q/SRUgw-NVCHI/AAAAAAAAAjA/hJXvDRiyjDQ/s400/abby%20014.JPG

OMG THIS IS HEARTBREAKING. However, I'm so happy that at least you could rescue two of them. It's better than nothing. I am so sad over this. She's beautiful.
I suspect my camilla came from a situation like that, but not 100% sure. She also had such severe separation anxiety, but she DID improve. I never could use the crate for a long time again, until she was MUCH older, and had a long time to get over her past. Now, she's awesome, even though she's anxious... but a wonderful family member and your little girl will be too. She's beautiful.
I'm so happy people are reporting this. It needs to be shut down. How sad.

What a night. I got a half hour sleep. She whines all night long. I have read to ingnore that so they stop. I did but did not sleep, lol Poor baby misses her momma.
She is running all over the place today. Angel does not like her at all, and Julie loves her. She found out she loves grass, and likes to eat it too like all my other animals. I swear there is some magic animal beans in that grass. All my cats and dogs will be out there grazing at the same time.

What a night. I remember that well when we got Camilla. The only thing to stop the crying was letting her sleep in the big bed. She's been there ever since. I think it helped her feel secure when she was with her "pack". We let Clyde sleep in the big bed from day one, so it worked out for all. It WILL get better. So glad at least one of the furkids likes the little baby. I'm sure the rest will warm up to her. :bighug:

She looks just like Riley did when he was a puppy, I know I posted some pictures of him. He's a red sable. She looks sable anyways, a real sable will have black on the tip of the fur but if you follow it down it's red...opposed to a black overlay where their are strands of all black fur. (atleast thats what I think)
Riley cried all night too and he came from a very loving home, in fact Riley cried for weeks!

I just spoke with my neighbor more about what she saw there.
She was to tired last night.
She said the house had no furniture . All cages with up to 5 dogs per cage . Half the house was every kind of daschund you could imagine, piebalds, dilutes, wire hairs, silvers, even double dapples, how sad. the other half of the house was malteses. then in the yard were tons of dogs, and horses he sells. She did say she saw bags and bags of purina one, so at least it isn't the worst food, but not the best. She said these two dogs were in a cage of 5 dogs , and all the dogs appeared to be afraid of him. I put a phone call in today and got an aswering machine, and have to call back Monday. She said there must be at least 500 dogs in there . If they get this place, boy oh boy where will they all go. He didn't even ask about me, where she was going, or have her sign any papers. He gave the puppies a shot and wormer only when she requested it. Thats when he asked her about helping him sell dogs. Said she could make some money, or get some free puppies. She took advatage of that point and got her camera saying she would take some photos and see if she knew anyone. My neighbor is a teenager, and I dont think he felt threatened in any way, and she works for his wife at an elderly care center. She had a regular throw away camera, not a digital but I really want to see those photos. It just broke my heart.
When she got home, she had flea bites all over her.

I will have to look at that when she wakes up. My guess is that on parent was short and one long hair. Her liter mates had short hair. She has the long hair on the ears but shorter on the body.

Being in the health care business, she can always find a job. What you could do is call a rescue, they have plenty in Phoenix , and let them check the place out-they can say they want to buy dogs. They will report it and they will loose all the dogs. Check in the phone book about the different rescues.

This is puppy mill pure and simple. They need to be reported, and those poor animals need to be taken away from them. I am so glad that your little abby got you for a mom, and the other little one got your neighbor.
I just helped close down a puppy mill. Very sad. :sosad: These dogs hadn't had any vet care. No shots, they had tumors, bad teeth, one is blind. And this was for 30 dogs, and I thought that was bad.
What you are describing is terrible. There is no way those animals can get the love and attention that they deserve. :hearts:
Report them.:punch:
Get those dogs into foster care.

What a beautiful little one!!! Try wrapping a ticking alarm clock in a blankie & put it next to her so she can relax. It sounds like a mommy's heartbeat. She may be missing her kennel mates too - since there were five in there with her to snuggle with.

She is beautiful, she looks like Pippin's littermate Juniper. I am so glad you got her and she is going to have a wonderful loving home. Along with the alarm clock wrapped up maybe put in a heating pad on really low so she has something warm to snuggle with, or do like I do and take her to bed with you. lol
Good luck with getting that terrible person shut down and hopefully prosecuted. Poor dogs. That is so sad.

I have already emailed the county. I am going to call them Monday when they are open.
The thought of that many babies in there suffering. I wish i could go get them out of there, but this way, hopefully they will be out of there!
I am amazed how well Abby is doing today. She is running around playing with the dogs, and she has had NO accidents today. She has gone every time I take her outside! I am beside myself amazed! I think I may have a dashie thats easy to potty train, lol
Shes too small to even get up into the dog door at the moment, and take her out every hour, lol
Looks like she is taking to my husband over me,lol figures. He is impartial to the pets, but I hold her now, she wants down and begs him to pick her up. Today they slept by each other on the couch for about two hours. He actually likes her :) :bouncy1:

Oh I am so in love with this little one, she is just amazing. She just needs to get some weight on her. She does not have that many teeth yet and refuses hard food even watered down. I have been giving her a little bit of soft throughout the day instead of two meals, and the shaking when she eats has now stopped.
She has finally figured out the water bowl.
She really needs some vitamins, I am going to ask the vet what she thinks is best. Her coat is dull, from lack of nutrition. I bet a month from now she looks like a new dog health wise. Almost bed time and I am dreading the crating howl, lol But until she can use the doggie door on her own, that is where she needs to sleep, lol I am going to try the clock thing tonight.

Good news. I tried the suggestion last night of putting her in her crate at eye level where she can see me. She whined 5 min. and went to sleep all night!

I did some close looking at her. I think she really is a dapple.
She has a solid black stripe of fur down her back, not lighter on the ends,
but on her sides mixed with the black is lighter colored red fur than the rest of her body which is darker red.
Her face and legs look marbled, with the black and red.

Check inside her mouth, often they will have dappling in thier mouths. Red dapples are really hard to tell. Often the dapples fade and look more like an overlay. Pippin is actually a red dapple as is Lexie and you can't tell either one of them are dapples anymore.

I think you are an :angel9:!
Handle the situation however you and your friend feel best. I totally understand any hesitation on her part, seeing as how they have all of her personal information and could easily be angered enough to retaliate.
Someone mentioned, and I think it may be the best bet, to have a rescue go in and say they were wanting a puppy and saw her new little one, and then let that rescue person report them. That keeps your friend safe from being directly related. But that is just my own devious little plan.
However, the bottom line is, you have saved a little girl and you will truly change her life, and she will probably change yours. Enjoy your new puppy!
