Flea Control

We got a 5 month old standard puppy for Christmas and I have saw some flea on him.
We have used the drops from the vet but the kids dont like it, they say it makes him feel greasy. I have been told about the garlic pills. Does it work? Thanks, Angie

I live in TX and no, the garlic doesn't work down here. If you do not have a bad problem with fleas, just treat for them. Bathe the dog, wash his bedding, vaccuum well, spray where he stays with a good flea spray (couch, carpet, bed), spray the dog and that should do it. works down here. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smile.gif

What kind of drops are they? We get drops to be applied once a month and we apply it to the skin (under the coat) one drop per spot up and down their spine until weve used up the monthly tube. Never seemed greasy. We also use the once per month pill. The drops are Advantage and pills are Program. Our backyard is partially wooded and surround by a wetland, so we're probably excellent candidates for flea problems, but the girls have never had them.

I too use the drops (advantage). The only time I have a problem (greasy) is when I do not get the hair parted enough and it doesn't get on the skin well and gets more on her hair. I have a long haired doxie, so it does take two of us to do it. My husband has to hold her and part her hair really well while I do the drops. I have had her two years and have never seen a flea!!

We also use Advantage and have nevere had a flea in our house. My husband worked for Bayer (who makes Advantage) and I know that they are very careful and test their products very thoroughly to make certain that the products are not harmful to humans, animals, or the environment. This is really good stuff and I would recommend it over anything else for fleas!

How often can you give them a bath using the advantage? I like him to be smelling good.
We have been giving him a bath about every week in a half. The Advantage sounds like the thing to do. I think we will try it. Thanks for the replys.
