This is from a dear friend back in Montreal. I used to house and dog sit for her. I can't help thinking that if I were still there, I would have been house sitting for her. Maybe I could have prevented this, or maybe Valentin would now be dead too.

You can be sure that I will be checking our dog run when I let the boys out, even though it is super secure.

Please light a candle for Dodger, a sweet golden boy, who loved to play with my Valentin. :candle: My heart breaks even more for this friend, as she did not even get to say goodbye to Dodger; he was gone before she knew about this.
********************************************************************
I was away last week, and the day I came home my baby Dodger died a few hours before my plane landed. My aunt was watching my boys and she let the boys out in the fenced back yard as usual. When Dodger came in he was foaming at the mouth and collapsed. My sister rusdhed over to get him and brought him to the vet - but they werent able to do anything and he passed away. The vet said he showed signs of poisoning and that his blood indicated toxicity. He was also vomiting what looked to be chicken. My aunt swears he had only eaten his dog food and there was no chicken in the house.

I dont want to accuse or assume. I mean I cant even fathom anyone doing something so horrible. BUT the man who recently built his dream home behind my house, has complained all summer long about my neighbors dogs. Harrasing them, calling them at 6 in the morning to wake them up as he says their dogs do to him.

He has come to my house and said he appreciates how I handle my dogs and how they are rarely a bother to him...but once he left me a 2 page letter about how my dogs had been barking for over and hour and how he and his wife could not sit on either their front or rear porch and enjoy their home....I didnt understand as I was out the time he left the note and my dogs were in my house. He has begged me to complain to the city about neighbors - saying that he isnt getting anywhere with the city. I refused and told him that their dogs were not a bother to me. This past summer he also complained to my neighbors that their cat was pooing on his lawn. A few weeks later their cat died, from some trauma to it's head.

.....I cant prove that this man did anything. But it just doesnt make sense, Dodger was healthy, there were no chemicals or poison in my house. He was out in my fenced yard......it just DOES not make sense. I'm so heartbroken right now - and seems as though Nanooke is too. Im numb with shock.

Just please be aware that there MAY be some sick people in this world...and if you have neighbors that dont like your dogs, be precautious and dont under estimate anyone.

. I'm so heartbroken right now - and seems as though Nanooke is too.

Nanooke was my foster, she adopted him. This is just WAY too close to home. Her 3 goldens, my Champ and Valentin spent many hours together at her house. I can't count the number of times I sat for her. Now 3 of those goldens are at the Bridge. It was hard enough losing 2 of them to "natural causes" (if cancer can be called natural), but this .....................

We thought we were bringing Nanooke to safety when he came into rescue. He was a stray in an isolated village and was part of the annual round up, to be shot. He is a golden/arctic wolf mix - miniature golden with blue eyes. Welcome to "civilization" Nanooke.

She lives on close to an acre of securely fenced land. Even the little doxies could not get under her fence, so this is no way, no how an accident.

I have suggested that she report this to the police (she wants to ask the neighbour if he saw anything "suspicious" while she was away). I think a couple of nice big uniforms need to go knocking on some doors (it also shields her, the vet could have reported this)

  Oh Margaret how terribly sad this is. I can't imagine the grief that your friend is feeling right now over this senseless loss. Please tell her that we share a small part of her pain and are thinking of her at this very sad time. I do hope that she gets the officials involved in this to investigate and prevent something similar happening. There will be a :Candle_4::Candle_4::Candle_4: lit in Dodger's honour in my household tonight.  to you as I know it's hit you hard as well, and  :bighug: to your friend.

how horrible!!! Lots of :hug2: for your friend and her aunt, I can't imagine how bad her aunt is feeling!! Not that I think it's the aunt's fault at all, just that she was responsible at the time and I'm sure she feels horrible. side note: We just got back from vacation and the boys "escaped" the backyard (MIL came in through back gate and it didn't close all the way) while she was inside trying to convince Miss Vanna to come out from under the table and she about had a heart attack when she couldn't find them!! The brats were just in the front yard on the far side of the house but she had quite a panic attack until she found them. She was telling us she doesn't know what she would have done if something happened. Something similar happened to my aunt when she came out but they had just got back inside the house and didn't notice but she also said she paniced.

R.I.P Mr. Dodger, :candle:

OMGosh, Margaret, I'm so sorry. How horrible and devastating. :crying02:
Dogs are so much better than a lot of people. And they call dogs, 'animals'. I think we all would agree that the animal who did this, needs to pay for this heinous crime.

Please convey our deepest and sincerest sadness and sympathy to your friend. May it comfort her to know, she does not grieve alone.

Hugs for you, Margaret.
Godspeed Angel Dodger. :candle:

I would be careful about letting my dogs go into the backyard. I think I would go over to the neighbor and say " I think we have someone in the neighborhood that is poisoning dogs-I just lost my beloved dog" Just so he is aware, that she knows what is happening. I'd hate to see her loose anymore dogs.

How totally senseless and unerving. My deepest sympathy for her and your loss. I don't know what I would do in this case. But I do hope she can get to the bottom of it.

Oh, my God, I am so sorry to hear this. I can't imagine what your friend and her family must be going through right now, and you as well as Dodger's dogmother. Please extend my sympathies as well...losing a baby to heart failure or cancer is bad enough, but knowing your innocent baby's life was ended deliberately, and without you by his side...how heart wrenching. :sorrow:

If i even for one second thought that someone was responsible for that, I would have been breaking down his door. No second thoughts. I would not be able to control myself.

That is so horrific.

I have a neighbor behind me that has shot my cat with a pellet gun. I know it was them because my cat sits on my fence that faces their house.
There is an alley that separates the homes, but it still makes their dog bark.
HE was shot up on that fence from that direction.
I called the cops. Problem is we can not prove it and the cops did nothing.
He has also shot at my neighbors dog because he poops on the open land next to his house. All the cops said was if you hear the bb gun going off, call us.

My cat is ok, and so is her dog, but it makes me sick. There was a steak thrown over his fence once the neighbor found, and threw it out, thinking it may have been poisoned. I told her she should have took it in to have it tested.

I would tell them to call the cops and make a report. Even if it can not be proven, there is a report on it for future problems, God forbid.

This is just senseless and sad. I think the local animal control should know about this and also be shown those letters your neighbor wrote. This makes me sick. So sorry for your friend and for Dodger.

This is so dreadfully wrong! I am soory for your friends grief. This happened to a gf of mine in Oklahoma and she knows, but could never prove, that is was her neighbor who posioned her dog. Her 2nd dog was posioned as well, but they caught it in time and were able to save their 2nd dog. Some folks aren't deserving of the ground they walk on. I am so sorry!
