My husband, right now as I write this, is taking our old sweetie to be put down. I can't go. It kills me too much. I said my good-bye here. Rascal is a German Wirehaired Pointer. She is a puppy of Jinx who we had bred and had a litter of ten. Rascal was the runt of the litter, and had health problems when she was a pup, however she has lived 14 1/2 years. Not bad. She has been having health issues, but when I brought her in tonight, she was struggling to breathe. I put my hand on her throat and could feel her struggling to bring air into her lungs. My husband got home, and he is bringing her to the emergency clinic. Our daughters are going to meet him there, and he brought our other wirehair to be with her. So sad.........:candle:

So sorry. I have never been faced with the decision of euthenasia and I know when I am it's going to be difficult. The question you have to ask yourself is quality of life and It's hard to not be selfish and keep them with us. You're doing a very brave thing, and it's okay if you want to remember happy thoughts of her, not parts of her departing.
She will be in a better place, my sincere apologies. :candle:

Oh Janet you poor thing> I know how very hard it is to say good-by!
Could there still be hope? Maybe the Vet can still help her?

She trusted you with her life and health and well being her whole life. You are faithful and true, as she is. My heart goes out to you.

When I lost a very special friend her mom said this to me and I believe that it applies even to our 4 legged friends who are just as special... sometimes like losing a child....

I'm so sorry. It's so hard to lose them, but we also have to consider their quality of life! Please accept my deepest sympathies. I've been there, and done that - it's very difficult. :hug2:

I am so sorry to hear about Rascal. It's certainly a moment that we all dread terribly but is a decision that is made from love and putting the dog's interests ahead of our pain and loss. Doesn't make it any easier to take though, and my :hug2: to you and your family. RIP sweet Rascal - you will see her again some day. :hug2: :hug2:

My husband just called from the clinic. The vet said that her lungs and heart are filled with fluid. There really isn't any choice. We can't have her suffer. We have had to have other dogs put down. Rascal's mother we had to send to the bridge because she was suffering so much. I hate to say good-bye, but I don't want her to suffer. When she was a pup and sick, I would whisper in her ear that everything would be OK. I whispered in her ear tonight, I told her everything would be OK. So sad......

I am so very sorry.:hug2: Whenever our furkids leave this earth, they take a piece of our heart with them. Know that you have made an unselfish decision - as difficult as it is. R.I.P. Rascal.:candle:

Most of us here can relate to your heartache. We only have our furkids for a short time and whatever years it is, it's never enough....

I am so sorry about the loss of Rascal. I hope that in time you will be able to remember her with joy at all the loving memories she has left you with rather than the tears of the pain of her leaving.

Tough time sleeping. :zzzz:All those memories are right there. I helped with her birth. Helped when she had problems as a little pup. Loved her and enjoyed every minute of her being in our family. She was a sweet, gentle soul. She was a hunter, and good at what she did. She hunted up to the last month she was alive. She loved it. Our other wirehair is having a tough time. He knows he is alone, except of course Lola and Bocce:hug2:, but he misses Rascal.:sad2:

You have my deepest sympathies. I know how hard it is to lose your baby. When my Vladimir died, I was heartbroken and depressed for over 2 years. But I truly believe that we will see our loved ones again, including our pets. I always picture them there waiting for me when my time comes, all happy and healthy as they deserve to be. It hurts that they're gone, but I feel better when I realize just how happy they really are now. You will be in my prayers.:hearts:
