Anyone know of any good toys that look like shoelaces or drawstrings? It's one of the few things I've found that will occupy Baxter long enough for me to take a shower (I live alone), but I don't want him chewing either. Just looking for a similar substitution......

Thanks!

Just make sure any string like toys have a large object secured to one end so that Baxer does't have to make an emergency trip to the vet to have something removed from his intestins. IF he does get ahold of something like that and you realize it in time you can make him vomit and with a little luck it will come back out the way it went in. A string or shoelace in the intestins can cause major life threating complications.

Never underestimate what a dachsie pup might swallow. One of my folks dachsies swalloed an anklet type sock of my mom's when she was a pup. The good thing was we observed her swalloing hard and a quick search determined there was a missing sock. At that time 30 years ago a call to the vet got us instrution to pour salt down her throat and that did the trick the sock came back up.

Just want to see everyone stay safe.

Thanks for the advice. A dachsie we had when I was young ate a kneehigh pantyhose. We didn't know it until after he was unable to digest it, and his system was eliminating it. Talk about trouble! My mom just pulled and pulled, and finally it all came out just the way it went in, but at the other end!

I know when I was at walmart they have a small knotted rope that has 2 tennis balls on each end that might help to occupy the time while you are showering.
I like those ropes its actually one thing that Kamper has not totally destroyed.
