View Full Version : Sigi
Today is the first time I am able to discuss Sigi`s passing since he left us at 4.30pm on Monday the 17th of March.
I would just like to put it on record, that he was with us for almost 12 years. In all that time there wasn`t a day that passed without affection, entertainment and appreciation from that little dog. He was absolutely unique. I have appended a photograph of him taken just after he was born in April 1991.

You have my deepest sympathy for your loss.
Even in your sorrow and your love for Sigi, please realize how blessed you were to have shared your lives with such beautiful loving little fellow. Their ability to love unconditionally, entertain endlessly and share our lives so perfectly never ceases to amaze me.
The pain will ease with passing day, and in time you will be able to remember all the wonderful things about him with a smile and not so many tears. His memory will bring you great joy in the days to come.

I'm so sorry to heare of your loss. Reguardless of how long or short a time we have enjoyed with our little ompanions it's never easy to say goodbye. Sone day perhaps soon perhaps years from now the right little one will stumble your way and help mend that gaping hole in your heart. We know you have a lot of love to give and not missing a little one who was so happy to receive that love is difficult.
I hope this poem helps. It's one of the ones I post here from time to time. It was sent to me when I lost my little girl Aggie.
Tom and the boys (Frank, Tanner and Dexter)
--------------BEGIN ATTACHMENT--------------------------------------
The Spirit of a Dachshund
I was standing on a hillside
In a field of blowing wheat
And the spirit of a Dachshund
Was lying at my feet.
He looked at me with kind dark eyes
An ancient wisdom shining through
And in the essence of his being
I saw love there too.
His mind did lock upon my heart
As I stood there on that day
And he told me of this story
About a place far away.
I stood upon the hillside
In a field of blowing wheat
And in a twinkling of a second
His spirit left my feet.
His tale did put my heart at ease
My fears did fade away
About what lay ahead of me
On another distant day.
"I live among God's creatures now
In the heavens of your mind
So do not grieve for me, my friend
As I am with my kind.
My collar is a rainbow's hue
My leash a shooting star
My boundaries are the Milky Way
Where I sparkle from afar.
There are no pens or kennels here
For I am not confined
But free to roam God's heavens
Among my Dachsie kind.
I nap the day on a snowy cloud
Gentle breezes rocking me
And dream the dreams of earthlings
And how it used to be.
The trees are full of liver treats
And tennis balls abound
And Milkbones line the walkways
Just waiting to be found.
There even is a ring set up
The grass all lush and green
And everyone who gaits around
Becomes the Best of Breed.
For we're all winners in this place
We have no faults, you see
And God passes out those ribbons
To each one, even me.
I drink from waters laced with gold
My world a beauty to behold
And wise old dogs do form my pride
To amble at my very side.
At night I sleep in an angel's arms
Her wings protecting me
And moonbeams dance about us
As stardust falls on thee.
So when your life on earth is spent
And you stand at Heaven's gate
Have no fear of loneliness
For here, you know I wait".

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I visited your website and remember your postiing of the photo "The Boys Find a Dragon."
Sigi is a beautiful dog! He was lucky to have such a wonderful life and family. And you were so lucky to have him. I hope these words of empathy help in some small way.
How is Otto? Hold him tight and remember Sigi together.

Many of us here have lost one or more of our furkids . . . and unlike those who have no pets . . . we know, feel and share your pain.
Sir Sigfried will be missed desperately by you both . . . try to remember all the good things. One day you will meet again at the Bridge.
In the meantime . . . we are right here for and with you.

I am so very sorry to hear this news about Sigi. Many of us here know the heartbreak of such a loss. It is so difficult to know what to say because words don't really ease the loss but they can help in letting you know that there are people who truly understand that these little souls are truly family members and are mourned as such. He was quite a beautiful boy... from his very first moments. His baby picture is beautiful.
I hope that you will find some comfort here. I love this board but I always, always hate to see new messages on this page. Please know that many people are thinking of you in this difficult time.

My deepest, heartfelt Sympathy to you.
My wish for you is that, in time, the memories you have of the many years you had with Sigi will ease the sadness you feel now.
Take care.
Our thanks to all who sent such thoughtful messages. We know you are kind genuine people. We loved Sigi so much and always will. He loved us back and we feel privileged to have given him a lovely life.
Thank you friends,
Betty, Don and Otto.

Donald,
I am so sorry to hear about Sigi. He was well loved by you and his memories will always be a part of your heart.
Now he will be at the bridge always waiting for you.

Just one final salute to Sigi. I just came upon the following words, which I am sure would apply to every Dachshund, but for me particularly applied to Sigi :-
“Near this spot are deposited the remains of one who possessed Beauty without vanity. Strength without Insolence, Courage without Ferocity, and all the Virtues of Man without his Vices. This praise, which would be unmeaning Flattery, if inscribed over human ashes, is but a just Tribute to the Memory of BOTSWAIN, a Dog.”

Donald,
I have read many things... both here and in other places.... about dachshunds. Yet I have never read anything that captured the very soul of these little creatures, as the words you share with us here have done.
Truly, truly beautiful... and a wonderful tribute to Sigi.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

DAL,
I am finally able to write a message without bawling.
I lost my baby one month ago. She was only 10 months old and she was one of the greatest gifts that God has given to me.
She affected me in so many ways and brought so much joy into my life and she was only part of my life for 5 months.
I am so sorry to hear about Sigi but I feel a little better thinking maybe he is playing with my Riley at the Rainbow Bridge!
Shanie
