Hello everyone! Thought I would share an update from Toby's mom with you all since there was such an outpouring of love and support for my sweet, loving, blind old man! I have to say, I still miss him! Ken still will say, "Remember how Toby did......." and I think he is feeling the loss as well. Hopefully we can find a suitable companion for Ken and Dex at the NEOD! But once again, I digress........

Here's the info from Toby's mom:
Toby is doing really great - - all the animals are in the process of getting used to each other, but I've had no significant problems - - Tobes is just so dear - - just walks around with his little tail wagging all the time - - it's astonishing really how well he gets around - - just bumps into things and keeps on going - - he's such a good boy, and comes right over and stands still while he gets brushed every day - - he seems to love it! Honestly, it feels like he's always been here - - he loves his daily walks with the other doggies, and they run way ahead when we're in the orchard, and little Toby just plods along - - yesterday he walked about 1/2 mile and I carried him the rest of the way - - then when he gets home, he's played out and goes to his little bed and off to dreamland - - I'm really enjoying his company - - I could not have asked for a better companion than Toby--I am so glad we found each other--He is so inspiring!

awwww that is so great! I've had a few blind fosters that have touch and left doxie shaped holes in my heart that will be there forever but I wouldn't trade them for the world. :sillylove:

I feel so lucky that Toby's mom found him! I mean, for those of us in rescue, to find someone in less than a month to adopt a 12 year old, blind, hearing loss, lyme's disease boy is absolutely unheard of (except in the case of the foster home keeping them)! He of course does have that fantastic personality but Toby's new mom fell for him sight unseen (from the fashion show program) and couldn't wait to meet this special guy. I am truly amazed because I thought we would end up keeping him for the remainder of his years and I was completely fine with that.

Ken keeps saying "There's no cuddle, like a Toby cuddle." We both miss him so much but know he's in a great home. I always strive to find a place as good as my own or better for all of my fosters. And his mom is fantastic. I couldn't have asked for more.

Now I'm getting the "foster cravings". It's been about two weeks and I feel like I need another foster asap! But unless there's an emergency, I've agreed to wait until about the 2nd week in June to take in the next pup because our lives are so crazy right now. Dex rolls with the punches but I doubt another foster would as well as he does (or Toby did).

Amy thanks for posting the Toby update. It definitely sounds like a wonderful loving home for him and he so deserves it! I know that you guys are missing him like crazy, but you can rest assured that he's doing well in his new home. I know that there are needy fosters out there for whenever you feel ready to take one in.
