Hi Everyone! For those of you who dont know me, my name is Jan Ocken and my dachshund name is Mickey. Here is his photo :

Mickey is going through some teething right now. It is causing him to be picky on some days about his food. At first I was concerned that he was sick or something, but realized it was his teeth. He lost one of his bigger ones and ate all his dinner tonight so I am not as worried now. He is a hyper little guy. I have stopped crating him during the day, and now give him free reign of the kitchen with a baby gate. So far for the first couple days he hasnt had an accident!!! Woohoo! I was so proud of him! He's getting better on the leash too, but still a little stubborn sometimes.

I was wondering where all of you went!

I live in texas, but am originally from Northern NJ! Nice to meet all of you!

Hi,

Welcome aboard. Mickey is a cutie. I remember that Willi went through the same thing when he was little. http://dachsie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hi Jan and Mickey! I'm sure that Mark is glad to have another guy posting on the board.

Rudy did that too when he was teething. Relief can be achieved by giving him a baby carrot (or smaller piece of a big carrot)that you put in the freezer for a a few minutes to get it extra cold. Knawing on the cold carrot will help soothe his gums.

Hi Kris,

Tell hubby, for me . . . "rack 'em"! http://dachsie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Mark http://dachsie.org/ubb/cool.gif aka- "Michigan Max"

PS: How many of you knew those knicknames like Fast Eddie and Minnesota Fats (met him once) are for real? I hung with about 15 players that have knicknames.

Yeah, Mark--I was aware of that. A few years back, when I was hanging with a group of people who liked to shoot some pool on a Sunday afternoon, I quickly picked up the nickname "Chicago Could-stand-to-lose-a-few-pounds." http://dachsie.org/ubb/confused.gif

Gosh, I forgot to change my password from the automatic one and couldnt find the email until now that had the password on it. Ugh. It's a rough month for my family and I. Hopefully things will calm down so I can relax. Thanks for the kind words about my dachsie! I might change the background (I'm flattered that you would make Mickey your background!) on that pic clouds so it looks like he is flying around!

Mickey has been doing great on the potty training! I have been leaving him in the kitchen and walking him 2x in the morning, at lunch and after work and he hasnt had an accident during work.

Well, yesterday I went to a baseball game at 5pm. So I came home from work and walked him, and I figured I would be home late (like 11pm or midnight) and figured there was no way he could hold it! I leave out water now too. I decided I would leave a potty pad down just this once. I came back and he didnt even use it! No accidents or nothing! I was a proud papa last night!!!

Good job, Mickey!! And hi again, Jan. How old is Mickey? What part of Texas? My wife is from Houston with family in Houston, Austin, Dallas and Texarkana. We live in a area about 50 miles northwest of Detroit, surrounded by a couple dozen lakes (we're on one, too).

Anyway, glad to see you back . . . thought we had lost you somehow.

Take care,

Hi, Jan! CONGRATULATIONS both to you and the BRILLIANT Mickey!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/biggrin.gif I remember how diligently you were working with the little guy, and it's great that it's paying off!

Glad to see you back! Is it ninety degrees down there yet? How are you holding up? http://dachsie.org/ubb/eek.gif
