Millie and I went to the vet this afternoon. She had been sneezing and coughing. He said she has kennel cough even though she was vaccinated in August. Millie was such a good girl and everyone there fell in love with her. She is not acting ill at all very playful and even ate all of her breakfast this morning. She is on a week of antibiotics and we got a micro chip for her while we were there. Her vet thought she was perfect and does not need to see her for a year.
I feel I am so lucky to have found Millie. She is such a good girl.
I would never get a dog any other way but rescue. This has taught he a valuable lesson.

It sounds like you and Millie are a team!:cheer: Great vet visit!!:bouncy1: The kennel cough vaccine does not "prevent" kennel cough 100% of the time. What it does do is if a dog does contract KC, it will be a milder case than without the vaccine. It's kind of like a flu shot for humans - we get the shot, we may or may not get the flu; but, if we do, we should experience milder symptoms.:Sun2:

I agree with Maryann I have heard the same thing...Petunia had kennel cough real bad and it took forever for her to get over it--she was never vacicinated for it before I got her, she also got reverse sneezing out of it... once she was done with it... She had KC before I got her.,..
After Gunner had back surgery... he had what the neuro thought was kennel cough... and the neuro asked me if he was up to date on shots... and I said yes--so they ran tests and he had pneumonia... Here in AZ (SV) its hard to even get the dog into a vet... unless they are up to date on shots...

Go get Millie, sit her down, and tell her how much you L-O-V-E her :D :0210:
Hopefully the antibiotics will clear up that cough quickly!

Thanks all,
Millie's cough is better today. It is actually more a reverse sneeze. I am off now to buy a crate, she spends a lot of time in the one I borrowed and the door is open! She is just the best little dog, I am so lucky.
