jackson is now 16weeks old.He has major issues when his dad leaves fro work or otherwise. He whines and crys at the door.He also constantly runs back and forth to look out our sliding glass doors. Since he was small we have been taking him to family members houses when both of us are out at work. they watch him to keep him company.Im just wondering at what age did you start leaving your dachshunds home alone?

I would say once you are sure his current healt problems are resolved it's never too early to start working on this issue. Do you have a kellen you can leave him in? IF not how about ans x-pen or a small room you can close off with a gate? It sounds like you may also face some seperation anxiety issues but they are likely to become worse the longer you put off introducting his solo time. I would suggest perhaps starting off by leaving im alone for short times perhaps 5 minutes the first time then working up from there.
I suggested the kelnnel or small area (At least at first) because there are just so many ways our little ones can find to get into trouble when left without supervision. With time you may be able to allow him full run of the house if that is your long term goal. Some peole allow full run of the home when they are goe others feel it's safer for everyone and every thing if the dogs are confined when alone.
