I'm kinda being a bawl baby as I'm typing so if my spelling stinks I'm sayng sorry in advance. I'm just kinda having a day and well now.. here's the rest of my story...
So this morning I get this msg from my buddy Sharon telling me her Mom was going to take her Corgi pup to the shelter. She made a pee oops. Well I know Sharon's Mom rather well. She gets em, plays wif em and then stuffs them off to anyone that will take them. The woman infuriates me but that's another story.:banghead:
So needless to say I am the worlds BIGGEST sucker. I HATE Shelters. :temper:
I originally asked Sharon if she could just take her in and place and ad on craigslist. I hate CL as far as rehoming but I found Molly that way, I'm a decent person so I thought maybe someone else out there would love her. For some reason she wouldn't and the pup had to go today. There was a lot of dirty words in that msg chat so I wont repost it here. I was so angry. I'm angry with Sharon for putting me in this position when she knows damned well I'm worse off then she is. *sigh* But .. at the same time I'm thankful she asked me. I repeat.. I HATE Shelters. :angry013:
So now I have a new to me Corgi, her name is Shorty but that is going. I figure she's still young enough to learn a new one so Aaron and I will talk about it tonight. I have a feeling he will want to name her Ein from the anime series Cowboy BeBop. I dunno about that one. It's growing on me the more I think about it so who knows. LOL Her pedigree name is Little Diva. She is considered a Sable with White Markings. She was whelped on 03/21/2009 which is kinda cool because my Emma was born March 31 2008 so now I have two march babies.
:sillylove:
She and Molly are doing quite well around each other. I'm including a video for your watching pleasure.
YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.
She came with 2 bags of dog food and a new harness that Sharon brought because I told her I didn't have anything extra for a new pup and right now life just kinda sucks. I'm really thankful for the bags of dog food because that was another stressor for me. But now this forces me to get a new leash, I kept putting it off. The one I had picked up for Molly was a cheap make do one and I think it would just break with the new baby since she's much bigger. I figure I got a few things for Molly's stocking so I think she can share with her new little sister this time and next year when things are better they will each get their own stockings.
So for now that's pretty much all I know about her. Do enjoy her pictures and as I can I will share more of her and Molly together. They seem content around each other. That makes me really happy.
Oh ... and Molly's SS ... I have to let you know this. She was sniffing that box like mad so it's making me even more nuts. Molly aid she would share. Hope that's ok. :) :hearts:
Heroo.. I's cute eh?

Awwww what a sweetheart. I am glad she and Molly are getting along so well. She seems well mannered, when you told her no when she was sniffing the tabletop tree she got right down so she has a bit of training. She is so cute.

Oh my gosh! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the no tail Corgi's! They wag their whole bottoms when they are happy! She's adorable! Here's a name tip that works well...if she's knows her name is Shorty, try something close. Think hard O in it. Or better yet, hard O and the R together with Morgan. Sorry, I like the name Morgan on a Corgi LOL.

:aww: Bless you!! She is adorable... What is it with people right now...our rescue got an emergency call from a vet today - family dropped family pet off to be euthanized..only thing wrong was dry eye...grrr!! My theory is that everyone wants 'unwanted' pets gone by Christmas so they don't affect travel or company plans... anyways-I digress..
It sounds and looks like she and Molly are off to a great start together. It will take a few weeks before you see 'Shorty's' true personality come through, but I'm sure that they will be fine together. She has the sweetest face :kiss: - bless you for helping her and :welcome: little one!!

She is ADORABLE! Molly is ignoring her in the video so that is really good! I just got my 2nd and like others said - There WILL be times in the next couple of weeks where you ask yourself what the h#ll did you do - Just be patient...My two are totally worth those hair pulling moments and I honestly would not go back and change a thing. Things will even out once everyone gets used to each other and soon you wont remember life with just Molly.

Thank you for taking her in. I almost got Corgis instead of doxies. But then, Taffy cuted me out. And it was doxies from then on.
I would be happy to send you some leashes, if you will give me your address. I have bought a lot of my regular leashes at Walmart, and have never had a problem with them. I have a new one with paw prints on it that has never been opened.
We use flat tape retractable leashes on our girls, except when putting them in and taking them out of the humongous crate we take them out in the are with. But i have regular leashes, too.
People who think that pets are disposable really suck.
How adorable is she!!!! Welsh Corgies are my second favorite dog...of course
the dachsie is my number one!!!!
Good luck she is beautiful and Miss Molly you will be a great Sister

doximom ~ Aaron is in love. :) She is definitely Aaron's baby now and that's fine with me. I think I'm a blue blooded Dach girl here. I like to pet her and cuddle her but doing it makes me feel guilty and then I have to snuggle with Molly extra time. Hehe.
LUVMYGUNNER ~ She's doing very well. I even have a little bit of video of her and Molly playing a bit of tug o war with a fleece toy I made from scraps. Molly even tolerated getting a few enthusiastic puppy licks. Hehe.
Jacqueline ~ I sent you a pm. Thank you very much for the offer. It was very sweet I appreciate it. :hearts:
and ... dum didi dummmmm
So we named her.. Noel kinda went out the window for a first name but it's her middle name now. :)
Maisie Noel is her new official name here in our home.
Ohhhh and get this... she had a bit of a scab on the underside of her neck so I asked my friend do you know what happened. Her MOM had a bark collar on her and it burned her. WTF +)!(*&_#()!#!+)#)!)!#!(##_(!
So..... last night before Aaron got home I sat with her on the couch and sniveled for her. I think she never got much attention, she's not even leash trained. Poor baby. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr She's really attention starved I think. But the good thing is she must feel comfy enough to play some here. That makes me happy.

I LOVE the name Maisie!!! Very cute name. Good job!!! See, it jumped out at ya!!! It sounds like she is really adjusting well. That's great. AND it is good that she has gotten your husband wrapped around her paw. She already had you the minute you found out about her. Leash training shouldn't be a problem. That part is easy. I am guessing that she is house trained? She will be learning your rules for the next few weeks. The mark on her neck means that the previous owner kept the bark collar on her at all times. So it rubbed her raw there. My Lola is a constant barker, so when I put her out, I have to use a bark collar, or the neighbors will complain. However, the collar I have vibrates and buzzes before it zaps her. Then, I have it at the lowest setting, I used it on myself to test it. Just a little tingle. However, it really sounds like they just kept the collar on her all the time. Is she barking much?

Welllllll.... she's not really house trained either I found out last night when she went ALL over my tree skirt. Aaron was out walking Molly for me and when he got back like a Mother blames the father saying it's his kid when it's bad I said.. "YOUR DOG ... PEE'D on my tree skirt" So he had to put them in the wash while I played extraction queen. You know we went broke one paycheck buying that thing but my LORD thank you in heaven was it ever worth it!!!!!! I have used it way too much. Ha. So ... I just need to keep a more careful eye on her and encourage the bells at the front door. Molly is starting to nose at them when she's ready to do her pee pee dance so maybe that will help Maisie pick it up faster.
As for the barking and the bark collar I have no idea how much the woman kept it on but I know she has a wicked tempter so I'm sure if the pup made her irritated it stayed on and was turned up high. Maisie hardly barks at all. Molly went ape bleep on the post man yesterday and Maisie just stood there. She kinda does little muffled woofs under her breath. Best way I can describe it. Like she's afraid to let go of one.
Now out of curiosity... the collar that you have. What brand is it? I can't leave Molly outside for the same reason, she flips out on people. She wont bite or anything but my gosh she's got lungs. I considered getting one for that but after seeing it can burn them I'm very leary. A little zap and vibration is ok but leaving a mark isn't.

perhaps she was paper trained, and that's why she went on the tree skirt.
My bunch are potty pad trained and they think tree skirts, floor mats, etc. are pee pads.

You know I got to thinking that so I talked to my friend about it this morning, she called her Mom and Mom said no she went outside and half the time on the floor in the house. So I dunno. :( On the vet paperwork I have that is a certificate of vet inspection it shows it was done 5/26/09 so the Mom had her for a bit. So that makes me angry too. Why spend over 1300 for an animal not even bother to train it or try to take time with it and then dump it at a pound. Oh .. to have that kind of money to blow. Pfft!!!!
Sorry I feel like I'm just ranting all the time on this. :( I do't mean to. It just makes me so angry and breaks my heart how some folks can be. Then they leave you to pick up the pieces of a little broken heart.
Thankfully I think she's doing really good and even though she's officially Aaron's baby I tease him and tell him his dog is laying under MY desk. LOL ( as I pat her head while I type )

I have one that I got on Ebay and it is remote controlled, I have found with the automatic ones that any loud sudden noise will set one off. Plus if another dog in the yard barks the one wearing the collar gets disciplined even if it wasn't doing anything wrong. Mine also only has a beep and 2 vibrate settings. The box on it is about the size of a transistor radio battery and after each of my dogs took a turn wearing it I made several old collars with the 9 volt batteries taped to them and put the bark collar on one of them and dummy collars on the rest. Then if they get to barking I hit the beeper and they all run into the house wiht tails tucked and no more barking. lol Plus the vibration has 2 settings on the remote you can do a mild one or a more vigerous one. The vigerous one is about the intensity of one of those vibrating massagers you can get but on small dogs they work wonders...Except Lacey of course she likes the feel of the vibration and will sit there staring me right in the eye and barking at me so I will hit the vibrate button on it. So for her it is the water bottle. lol

I got the bark collar on ebay. The brand is Dogtra. I like it because it is rechargeable, you don't have to keep buying batteries for it. It wasn't cheap, but it evens out after you end up buying batteries for the other types. They have the two sizes. I got the small one for Lola. I only put it on her when she is outside. Sometimes it's on, sometimes it isn't. However it always has to be on her neck. She knows when she doesn't have it on. She loves to bark. I've had the animal control come to my house one to many times for her barking..... hence the collar.

I found two on ebay. Was the first one or the second one the one you bought? I don't want a shock collar; I really like the idea of just the one that vibrates.

I'm going to be getting a citronella collar for Mr. Oliver. He is just so darn barky and since I live in a town house, it's not so good. (I have to laugh because whenever I type a "problem" it's with him. Just love that little punk even though he drives me to drink!)

Corgi's are great dogs; we had one before our doxie and scottie, but he died at age 5 of cancer :( - quick to housetrain, loved to play, was good inside with my elderly aunt. Only bad thing was the shedding - they have a double coat, so even though the hair is short, the undercoat will shed.
Thank you for rescuing such a wonderful dog. I can't believe people are stupid enough to spend so much $ and then dump "it" like some piece of junk a year later :punch:
