ANy suggestions on good treats. I can't seem to find one that my doxie really loves. I tried peanut butter ones and he doesn't eat them at all. I bought some beef jerky ones that he will eat but he doesn't get excited about them. Any suggestions would be great, especially healthy ones!:)

the place of choice that I buy most of treats for Chief is http://www.sitstay.com/ (http://www.sitstay.com/rewards/click.cgi?na3955) They are of GREAT quality and healthy as well. Chief LOVES the pumpkin spice cookies by them and recently just started on their "jammin salmon" treats and goes wild for them too. There are many to choose from there and they have some training treats that are very tiny and small and each one is only 2 calories.
Good luck and I'm sure you'll find some treats that your dachsie will love!

If you use the STORE bone above... any purchase can help the DBB! The DBB gets a small amount from things purchased when linked FROM the store link above ;)

If you are looking for treats that you can use for training a couple of quick ideas worul include Nupro Train Bits which are liver flavored perhaps and inch square. You can tear there into quaters and have a piece big enough that they know thay have something but still small enough as to not cause a weight problem too fast. Ther other idea while nutrionaly not as good is puperonies whic come in varous flavors. My boys generally like the beef or cheese flavors. Again these can be torn into small nibble size pieces for training. Of course my boys all time favorite training reqard is home made liver brownies:D
For general treats rawhides, greenies, and bullies are all good choices around here. Also many flavors of the edible nylabones. All of these general treats needs to given only when supervised time is available since they all have been know to have caused at least a few choking prblems. Oh yes I almost forgot pigs ears . The biggest problem with pigs ears is finding ones that aren't bigger than I want to give the boys. As an alternative to pigs ears on local feed store has started carrying lambs ears.

I use Nutro Train bits too and tear them into quarters.! I cut one puperonies sticks to about 12 pcs (puperonies is my least favourte). I have greenies & edible nylabones. On back of treats' bag, sometimes it indicates how much to give per lb (dog's weight). My mini has the smallest greenies and I cut them into 3 pcs and give her 1/3 pcs at a time (especially when I'm mopping the floor.. to avoid the tug of war with her!!!) When she has her greenies, she don't care what or who is around! Greenies is good for freshening breath and digestivity. But like I say, watch the amount, use the feeding instructions for guidelines! I buy few types of treats (the bags are not big, so I store them all in the fridge) If the treats are big, I cut them up so dachsie can hv more frequent treats with appropriate quantity. Mei Mei didn't like carrots when she was younger. She likes them since she turned 4 months old.!
How old is your dachsie?
