Got Kamper from a reputable breeder in Colorado
Got Maggie from, I believe now to be a backyard breeder in Colorado. I say this because since that time I have learned more about BYB and she had alot of different colors and even though their runs were very clean it was too many dogs.
Natasha from CTDR = Central Texas Doxie Rescue
I love them to pieces, they are my life along with the hubby ofcourse..LOL:fierce:

This poll was great idea, Heide. I got Bogart from a Reputable Breeder. Miller and Cash were from a Rescue and I guess you'd say I inherited Amanda. My mother went to live in a retirement home and couldn't take her two dachshund mixes who were puppies of one of my dogs and so I took in Amanda and her sister CC. Sadly CC died in 2001 of heart problems, but Amanda is still with us and doing very well! Of past dogs I got 3 from backyard breeders, one was a stray I kept and one came from a vet friend. The family had to move and couldn't take the dog and wanted her put down. She was less than 2 years old! This vet always talked people in to letting him keep the dogs and find homes for them. She was wonderful.

Casey's mommy wandered up to a job site of ours and had pups Casey was the last one and noone was taking him, he was 5 1/2 months old and they had a home for his mom so I brought the Case Man home that was 6 1/2 years ago and he's wonderful.
I didn't realize it but the lady from Mom's church who I got Missy from is probably a backyard breeder from the things I know now.
And last but not least as I think most everyone knows by now gentleman Zeke is coming for CTDR in a mere 5 days.:D :bounce: :bounce:

Good idea for a post! The only thing that I wasn't sure on was what I would be classified under. Because I am not into breeding or showing. BUT......
To get my first doxie I had at the time a choice of waiting for another breeding or 2 before I could get my first puppy. But the breeder I was going to asked if I would consider an older dog. She had her Champion title but the other dogs didn't like her. Plus she couldn't show her. SOOOOoooooo......
I took Corey under a Co-Ownership, which worked out great for both of us. But..... I had to breed her 2 times. Soooo I kept puppies from both litters. She got a special's dog out of it, and several Champions later... there are still a few Corey great grandpuppers out there in show land.
So I am not really a BYB or a RB just a.... I WANT A DOXIE NUT!:D :book: Of course a looooongggg winded doxie nut at that too!!!!

My darling Otto was a rescue - he was wandering around downtown Toronto without collar, tags or chip. My assistant found him and brought him to work - within hours I was in love.
Hijinx was from a reputable breeder. The breeder had originally kept her and bred her once, unfortunately our little tiny Jinxie had a c-section, so the breeder wanted her to go to a pet home. We had a choice of two adult females, and Hijinx's little tail never stopped wagging - so it was obvious that she was coming home with us!

Even though I do rescue, I didn't want to keep all the good puppers that come through our group for myself, so both my boys come from very reputable breeders :D

Cooper and Rover both came from different reputable Show breeders. Mini came from a breeder that I would now call a BYB.
We are lucky here in Australia that we don't see many dachshunds in rescue. The breeder we got Rover from is the Secretary for Dachshund Rescue in Sydney, and she said, on average, they only get about 10 a year

Otto came from a co worker who got him from a pet store. She was moving and couldn't take him with her. She loved him, but was willing to give him up to me. Her husband had left her the same day that I'd told her about mine leaving me, and they had the same first names so we were pretty close, always joking about how they played video games and the crap we put up with them. Neither dog or husbands were housetrained. Took a while but Otto finally is housetrained.
Dolly came from DRNA, I fell in love with her around 01 xmas time when I saw her on the internet. Said I was getting her for my boyfriend, knowing that he'd never take her. (Of course now he is wild about her) She'd just had puppies and they were all adopted out, and no one wanted her. Not housetrained. Took 6 months to really get her under control potty wise.
Gertrude was a lucky find from Norfolk Animal Management. I'd gone looking for a dog for my boyfriend (since we don't visit every weekend, he was missing dogs and wanted one) and saw her. I just was compelled to rescue her. My name was the first on the list and there was no turning back. I was determined to give her the best chance possible. Not housetrained.

from a shelter of sorts. Actually it's a dog training facility that takes in cats and dogs. He was in the window...and well..we saw him and couldn't resist. We've never been owned by a dachshund before..but once they have you...you're hooked..;)

Not sure if I voted right or not... Rooby picked me on Easter Sunday when I visited a breeder (down in Temple, Rena... I haven't had the nerve to see how reputable she is now that I've become more educated on the subject...). :afraid:
Lexie was "such a find" as my vet put it... some stupid, redneck, idiot (trying to be nice and not say what I really think of the blankity blank SOB   ) decided he didn't want her anymore so he left her chained in a relative's backyard - fortunately that relative surrendered her to Red River SPCA here in N. Texas and I adopted her in Nov '02. As you guys already know, both girls are my precious angels, or the PA's for short!!

Also not sure if answered correct. We got both of ours from the same place. Wasn't real impressed with their set-up. My Grace was given to me free because the breeder had no use for her because se weighed 6 lbs but was going to breed her anyway if I didn't take her which probably would have cost her her life, so I took her. By the way, this is the one that came with half of her left ear missing and a broken rib so I consider her a rescue.Thor was 8 weeks old and healthy when we got him from the same place.

I guess I have to say Dudley came from a BYB (had no idea what that was at the time) but they did only let their dog have one litter. We hadn't had a dog for 25 years (had a Scottie when my children were little who we had to give away because he really didn't like children) so my husband wouln't get another one because he said it was like giving a member of our family which he was away and never wanted to have to do that again. Then it was Fathers Day and I heard about the pupies and went to look at them. Dudley was the only one left and one look at him and he won my heart. He will be 5 in March. What can I say if anyone had ever told me we would be so crazy over a dog (of course Dudley doesn't consider his self one.) I wouln't have believe them. One happy doxie owner.

I got my four from three different sources. Magic and Misty were from a BYB (I know I was stupid) Mirri from a reputable breeder and Merlin from CCDR rescue. I have had some medical problems with Magic and Misty, but they are sweethearts and it was worth it. Mirri, no problem, well adjusted and healthy so far. Merlin my rescue will be a challenge. He is very shy, is learning how to respond to affection, not sure how to associate with other dogs. He does not even know how to play. Im pretty sure he is a puppy mill reject and I have a lot of work ahead of me. Two good things, he has bonded with me, showing affection, and wants to sleep with my other three. That's a big step.

I got Roxy from the rescue group I volunteer for. It's an all breed rescue, mostly big dogs. Small dogs go fast in our area. I came in on a saturday adoption day to vounteer and fell in love. She was with her sister(same litter) who was a cart wonder. I talked to her foster mother who thought it would actually be better to split them up because they were real trouble makers together. I told her I would try it. BTW I couldn't take a cart wonder, I work full time and no one would be home to change her diapers. I didn't think it would be fair to her. She ended up being adopted to a woman who works with disabled adults. Roxy came home with me for a "trial" 1 1/2yrs ago and never went back. She never acted like she missed her sister(no whining, etc). I think she likes being the only dog. The thing that got me was the excuse for giving them up(divorce). Also, her sister fanny had steped out of her bed and twisted her back 6 months before she came into rescue and we were the ones who got her a cart. She had been dragging her back legs for 6 months! They were all scabbed from rug burn! I know the excuse was bad, but I'm glad both the dogs are no longer with those people!! Sorry just had to vent!:dog:

I got Isobel from a woman who rescued her from a puppy mill in southern Ohio. She was moving and didn't want Isobel (who's name was Angel at the time---was she ever named wrong! ) so she called me to foster and place her. Long story short...Isobel bit everyone who came to see her and because of that there were no takers...The little creep did it on purpose! She has never bitten anyone except those possible families! So she moved in and has taken over the house which is what she wanted the whole time and I just wasn't observant enough!
Lawrence J came from some people who found him hit by car in the center line of a highway. They allowed him six weeks crate rest for a broken pelvis then were going to take him to the shelter that would've euthed him because of his age and teeth (they were abcessed and rotting out of his head--he has six left) :D Needless to say, he's here with me and I adore the fuzzy little guy.

Graci is From a breeder in Montana. The breeders ( for some extremely weird reason ) took the pups to Spokane to their relatives to sell. I was looking for a dachshund and I found her. I went to the breeders home and picked her out.
I have a better story, though.
I visited my great grandmother around june 2nd ( she had cancer, and I knew she wouldnt be with us for very much longer)
Her and I are very much alike. We are both exceptional artists, and we love animals alot.
We sat and talked for hours on end. I told her about my love for dachshunds, and that I had been searching for one for 3 years.
My grandmother passed away the following week, on june 7th.
We were all upset, but I was grateful that I got to see her before she passed on.
Just a couple of weeks after my 15th birthday, I visited my grandma out of town( my great grandmother's daughter) My grandma knew I had been looking wanted one for so long, so she offered to pay for one for me. I was so happy. We looked for days, But then we found a reputable breeder close by. We went to their home, and there were four puppies. The mother was a beautiful red mini wire hair, and the dad was a handsome black and tan. I had a lot of trouble choosing one, But as soon as I picked graci up, she layed her little head on my shoulder, and I knew that we were meant to be together. My grandma payed the breeder and he handed me her health record, and AKC papers. I couldnt believe what I saw- she was born the same day my great grandmother passed away! out of all the dachshunds in the world, I picked the one that was born the same day my grandmother left this world.
I named her Graci, which means "a blessing from God". I believe she truly was sent by god himself, and my guardian angel-- My great grandmother.
I am not sure if I vote right either. I would say that Kodi came from a reputiable breeder, but I don't think they really qualify as breeders. The couple that my husband bought Kodi from had two Dachsie's and the female got pregnant. Both of Kodi's parents are purebreeds and have the paperwork. They were very well taken care of and loved. The couple didn't mean to breed, but they found good homes for all the pupps. They also sold them at a VERY reasonable price. I got really lucky, and so did Kodiak! He is SO spoiled. ;)

about Graci.
I do truly believe things happen for a reason.
This was your great grandmothers gift to you. That you have finally a doxie and one who has the birthdate of being born the same as the loving grandmother leaving.
That is very special indeed.

Teddy was given to me by a sorority sister of mine. He was still living with his mom and dad. It kind of happened at the spur of the moment. I was talking to his previous owner about wanting a dachshund and she asked me if I would be interested in Teddy! I ended up getting him that night and hes been mine ever since. I love my little man so much and am so thankful I have him.

Merry, I got from a reputable breeder in Oklahoma when she was 8 months old. Bart came from a repuatable breeder in the Houston area in October at 3 and a half years old. He had gotten his Championship and fathered a couple of litters. His Breeder was looking for good home for him to retire to. Many, Many thanks to Cindi for helping me find both of my little wires! :flower:

I was talking to Chris Holm tonight & she mentioned a name of someone who runs a huge puppy mill here in Texas... the name sounded really familiar so while we were talking I pulled Rooby's file out and sure enough... that's where Rooby was born!
After getting involved in rescue and learning about backyard breeders & puppy mills I suspected Rooby might have come from a mill, but never knew for sure til now. It explains alot about her personality... she's kind of timid and doesn't warm up to people or other dogs very well. Fortunately she's always been very healthy with no physical problems at all. She was 8 weeks old when we adopted her... thank God she wasn't there long.

I got my first dachshund from a pet store (I've since learned). Sweet little Dickie doo named after a long time family friend. He has pigeon feet and buck teeth but we love him. My second dog was a Catahoula named Coushatta (named after the town I found him in Coushatta, Louisiana). Then came the shepard mix, Patton, from Animal Control in Albuquerque. Next came Gracie the Beagle, found on Eglin Air Force Base by my husband who was a cop riding on patrol. She was a flea bag and road around with him all day...they bonded, he fell in love and the next thing I knew we had four dogs. Then we moved to San Antonio and got Dutch (dachshund) from the Animal Defense League. They forgot to take me off the adoption list and when they called about Harry (dachshund), I couldn't say NO! Now we are at six and low and behold, I find CTDR. Now I have Clifford (Rescue) and Sonny (Foster). Eight is enough!

I am proudly owned by 7 of the most wonderful puppers you could imagiane.

I consider a Penny a "Rescue from a BYB". Here's why: My neighbor was telling me about this breeder that was selling mini dox pups. He said that there was one female that the breeder was most likely going to give to a pet store because she wouldn't be "show worthy" because her tail isn't perfectly straight. And if the pet store didn't take her, she was going to bring her to the MSPCA. Well, after hearing about this I checked the paper, found her and called her and talked to her. She agreed to meet me somewhere(pretty shady-right?) Penny was so small and scared. We fell in love with each other on the spot and there was no way I could let her go to a pet store or shelter. So her tail was crooked. I still had to pay for her, but much less if she had been "show worthy". I have since learned that this woman no longer breeds pups at all. (thank goodness) And the plus side is that Penny is healthy and happy, even with her crooked tale and I couldn't imagine life without her. I believe that we were brought together because we needed each other.

As I've said before, we did tons of research, and needed puppies, since we were litter box training. We found a local breeder/groomer/boarding/training facility, and waited until he had a litter. Picked out Trenyce from that litter of 2. Then got "lucky" we thought, when they had our smooth b/t born to another female only 5 days later. That turned out to be the "anything but" Ruben aka "Fur Beast." :sarcasti:
When we get our 3rd, it'll be from the same place, and hopefully a sister to one of our current babies. They are bigger than we had hoped, but they are so healthy! It was also obvious that Peter loved his puppies. He was so good with them and us from the beginning. I've spoken with other owners of pups from there and they all say good things.

Coworker had too many pets and she got the short end of the stick by giving us Cricket. I really think it was his submissive peeing thing that made her want to give him up. And although my husband claims I am borderline obsessive/compulsive in regards to house cleaning, I have learned to live with his little quirk. Of course all tile floors and carpet only in the bedrooms has helped! He can't help it that his little system is weak. We just work around his issues.

Piper was another rescue, from a pet store. She was a sickly little girl when I got her, you may all remember. She had bloody diareha within 24 hours, was riddled with worms, and had kennel cough for months. I spent a fortune on that little girl, and strained the relationship with the pet store owner, who is friends with my brother. Oh well, such is life. She means more to me than human "friends" who would sell sick dogs and then refuse to pay for the vet bills. I should check on the "puppy lemon law" in Kentucky, California has one.

Isobel came to me as a "foster" from a puppy mill at 5 months. Whenever someone met her for adoption she'd bite them! She's not a biter at all, but she picked me and I feel so blessed and she is my soul. Lawrence J came to me last August after a friend called about an old man who was to be pts because the people who had him didn't want him any longer. He'd been hit by a car and left in the middle of the road to die. The people who "saved" him got tired of him and I went to his rescue. It was love at first sight! He's my little toadlet and I adore him. Noah you all know about and he's kinda like a stretch limo after the tweenies...but he is loved and spoiled beyond belief and I thank Yolanda with DNRA mentally for posting that picture of him. I love my dachsies beyond belief as I love all my herd---but they hold a special place in my heart :luvlove:

I didn't vote because they came from different places. Bogart came from a breeder who apparently was pretty good. He's 12 and doesn't have any significant problems and my friends who show dogs say he has some good lines. Miller and Cash were rescues as all my future dogs will be and Amanda was my mother's dog that I took in when she went into a retirement home.

I rescued Daisy from a pet store, my sister and I were at the mall one day and the pet store had a bunch of doxies all little red short hairs and then there was Daisy a much bigger dappled longhair in the kennel by herself. The girl was telling us how she was on sale for 500.00 because of her age and convinced me I needed to hold her (she knew a sucker when she saw one  ). She was sweet and cuddly. When I asked the girl what would happpen if nobody bought her she would never give me a straight answer so I could only assume the worst and decided I would have to save her. They store could never produce the correct papers for her so in the end they refunded my money and I got to keep Daisy.
I found Rusty on the DWRP. I had been the page for about 2 years looking for the perfect addition to our family when I saw him. I knew immediately that he was the boy for us. Even though I was at work I immediately filled out the application and he was mine a week later.:)

My luvie girl was dropped off at our spay, neuter clinic by a lady who said she was a stray and wandered into her yard. Hmmm, a blind 8 lb weiner out wandering? Sounds suspicious. Anyway I spayed her and took out her huge bladder stones and now she is all mine. PS: Dont tell the others but she is my favorite! Neiman was brought in by a puppy miller with severely infected hocks from being on wire all his life. He was so malnourished I thought he was 8 wks old but he was really about 6 mos! No lie. I was so horrified I offered to buy her from this beast and thus paid $100.00 . First time I was the one to pay a bill after an office call! I named him Neiman because he was so pitiful he needed a fancy name. When I brought him home my husband said he "s just a head, where is the rest. Took him about 2 weeks to learn to walk. Now he is unstoppable. Millie was a dump at the clinic, no one came for her after 2 mos, I brought her home. She is a very pretty piebald. Frankie was purchased from a small time breeder. He is my weiner on wheels. Sparky and Guido were given to me by a lady who breeds and couldnt sell them, she just gave them away. They are my sweet blk and tan, and blk tan double dapple.

From a lady in Richardson, Texas that was moving into an apartment, and said that her son had moved, and no longer wanted them. She stated that they were around 4 months old at the time, and when we got to her house, it was love at first sight! We were originally only looking for one Black and Tan puppy to try to help us heal our daughters heart, when she lost Runt puppy ,(who was her first little doggie) but we got a package deal, by finding Blue, along with Lady bug! Blue is the first Dapple Doxie that I had ever seen, (no joke) and my husband fell immediatley in love, by picking her up, turning around, and walking straight out to the truck with her that night! He lost his little Doxie several years ago. She died having puppies, and it was very horrible! Thats why we dont breed our pups, the heart ache was totally unbearable for us. Grunt Puppy, was Runts sister, but from a littler 6 months ahead of her, and they had the same parents. So the girls have filled our hearts with love, and have certainly been a challenge to raise! But they are different than Runt and Grunt in theyre personalities, and I have had so much fun raising them!

Well I wasn't sure what to vote for either. Ally could probably fit into any of those catagories.
I got her from a older lady. Her story was that had dachsies along time before and breed them from her house and decided she wanted to do it again. Well, just like always she should have put more thought into it becasue after she got a male and a female she found out her health wasn't that great. She needed cataract and knee surgery and wouldn't have the time to raise this pair to have puppies in the future. Grrrrr.
So I got Ally (the female) from her and her granddaughter took the male. Ally came with papers and I found out who the breeder was for her. I don't know much about him but I'm guessing he's a backyard breeder.
So...Ally came from a backyard breeder and then was rescued from becoming a puppy producer by me! You know, Ally was only 6 months old when I got her so thank goodness this lady got smart before she made a big mistake bringing puppies into this world she couldn't take care of.

Tasha came to us thru rescue and though she was totally unsocialized when we got her at over 2 years of age, and terribly shy, she's fully potty trained and crate trained. Hubby and I knew we couldn't deal with a puppy since we live in a 5th floor walkup, so a young adult dog was perfect. We love our Tasha and she's made such a difference in our lives. We saw the listing on Petfinder, called as soon as it was a decent hour, and picked her up two (long) days later.

I got Willy (ARK Rescue Group- Carrolton,TX) just over 3 yrs ago when he was 10mo. He is a chocolate dapple LH, and has the predispositions for vision problems as such. He was in a crate, & really didn't show much personality. I was told he was dumb (quite the contrary). He had been dumped by a breeder at a shelter (couldn't get the big bucks not being perfect), & the Rescue group had pulled him. ARK had papers from the breeder's vet that stated the his eye condition was fine (just considered anomalies). I took him home, & to my vet, and learned he was blind in one eye (detached retina, & had glacoma -pressure in the 40's). We put him on glacoma meds, and got the pressure down to normal in a matter of weeks. I was later contacted by ARK to see how he was doing, and they were shocked at the findings. They were concerned that I might want to take him back (not a chance). Willy was part of my family now, & there was no way I would have given him back. He is the sweetest, & most lovable little fella you could imagine. He grooms the hair on my arm, & kisses it, have you ever heard of anything like that? This is my 1st LH. I have had SH, & I love them too. He is a real blessing.

I've heard a few stories about where Oscar came from. His previous owner broke up w/ his girlfriend, girlfriend gave Oscar back to him and he had no place for Oscar. He tried to keep Oscar in a store that he that he owned. My family has suspected that this man had a wife and he was afraid that she would get suspicious if he suddenly came home with a 1 yr old dog. I knew someone who visited the store and knew that I wanted a dachsie and the man gave him away.
I am ashamed to say that I got Isabel at a pet store. I had quit my job two weeks before, decided to retire, caught the flu and ended up in the hospital. The day after I got out of the hospital I stopped at a pet store to pick up a treat for my old dog (who is gone, now). There in the middle of the store in a playpen was Isabel. I picked her up. They said she was 8 weeks old. I had been planning on someday getting a Dachsie puppy when my old dog at home was gone. This puppy was everything I wanted.
I asked the pet store a lot of questions. They said all of their puppies came from reputable, local breeders. I was in love and blind, but I am still glad I bought her. Our hearts were meant to be one.
When Isabel's papers came, I called the breeder. The first thing I found out from the papers was that she was not 8 weeks old when I adopted her. She was 12 weeks old. When I talked to the breeder I asked her if she would mind talking about Isabel and her parents with me. The lady said, "What breed is she?" My heart sank. I told her she was a miniature Dachshund and she said, "Tell me what the names of her parents are and I'll see if I can figure out who they are." I told her the names. She said "Oh, yeah, they are nice dogs." I tried to ask questions about their health and she just put me off. I thanked her and hung up.
I knew then that I had gotten her from a puppy mill. I felt horrible.
But, I don't think I have ever loved an animal more. I sure don't ever want to support a puppy mill again, but I don't know how I lived without Isabel, especially after my older dog died.
It is just so sad that those places exist and there are precious lives there that are not loved.

Original post 06-14-2003 Casey's mommy wandered up to a job site of ours and had pups Casey was the last one and noone was taking him, he was 5 1/2 months old and they had a home for his mom so I brought the Case Man home that was 6 1/2 years ago and he's wonderful.
I didn't realize it but the lady from Mom's church who I got Missy from is probably a backyard breeder from the things I know now.
And last but not least as I think most everyone knows by now gentleman Zeke is coming for CTDR in a mere 5 days.:D :bounce: :bounce:
Here we are 05/20/2005 and my wonderful Zeke has been with us almost 2 years now. Sweet Boy has a special gotcha day celebration coming up. Must do something special for his day. We now have Annie who will be with us a year in August who we bought away from a puppymill last year and brat boy Sammy who is the foster I could not part with actually he never made it to foster, I knew when she handed him to me he was my boy. So our daily lives are filled with the love of 4 wonderful dachsies and one big smoochy Casey boy. Also since that original post we are now foster parents. Right now we have Lucy who I would dearly love to just keep and Snuggles who will take some extra tlc but who is coming out of herself more each day. Mark is centering his time around Snuggles and she adores him. I do love to see him cuddling that little tiny girl with all the love showing in his face.

I think most of you already know know the Tammy story! Both of mine are 6 years old (Oliver will celebrate his birthday this Tuesday!) along with Princess Tammy of course. :D Never mind cake...fresh marrow bones is where it's at for my kids' birthdays.
Both are from rescue and as much as I go ga-ga over puppies, I wouldn't do it any other way.

We got Jimmy and Malibu from private owners who for different reasons had to get rid of their dogs.
Jimmy was originally bought from a reputable breeder (or so the family said) his father was a show dog and mom was from show dogs. Jimmy is registered but they never could find the papers so I will never really know the truth. Didn't matter as he is just a pet to us. Malibu we bought from a really nice couple. They had 3 dogs and some kids and it just got to be too much work for them. We had gone to see another dog they had but Malibu jumped at me and didn't leave my side. I left with her. The couple brought all their dogs to meet us and Malibu was the right one. She was a very healthy looking dog. And the other dogs were on the fat side so they definantly were fed well ;) We know malibu was originally bought from a pet store so it made me a little sad that maybe she came from a puppy mill, but she really is the NICEST and sweetest dog I know.
Raider was through a pet store, not at the store but a family had an aussie that the neighbors border collie got a hold of. They were selling the puppies for basically what the vet costs were. We found out that Raider had been going to the vet we take our dogs to since he was born and the vet said he was VERY well taken care of. So I was happy with my purchase. I don't think the family were BYB I think they were stupid and didn't get their dog fixed early enough. Of course, I know EXACTLY how that feels.
My puppies were sold to friends or people through here and the dachsie rescue group. I was honest with everyone and while only one person came to my home to pick up the dog, the rest got to have their dogs hand delivered and I brought Jimmy and Malibu with me. THey were more then welcome to come to my house but I lived 200 miles away. it was easier for me to jus tdeliver all the dogs. All the owners did however get to watch their puppies grow up as I had new pictures almost daily of them growing.

Vienna came from my husband's co-worker's litter. By all standards he would be considered a BYB.
Stella came from a RB.
There is considerable difference in their builds, coats. But they are equally beautiful in our eyes.

I love reading all of these stories about how everyone came together!!!
Arnie picked us--a three month old puppy, he showed up in our front yard, literally, and started barking at us while we were on our front porch. It's a longer story--but the short version is, he was like manna from heaven.
Ludie and Dieter came through friends of friends who have dachshunds and had an unplanned "event" through unsupervised dating.
And little Gunther came through HarmonyHound rescue.

What a lovely story! That is just SO cool!!!
I got both of mine from CTDR. When I went to Waco to choose a dog, two were brought by the fosters for me to check out. I couldn't pick just one, so I brought both of them home. Have never regretted that for a minute! Lexie and Jack are the lights of my life.

As you all know, Maisie is from DRNA. My first dachsie was from a breeder near Freiburg/Black Forrest/Germany.
Tessa is from a breeder, and I've known her father since he was eight weeks old.
Daytona is a retired show-dog who belonged to a dane-breeder friend of mine.
I never really "plan" my dogs - they just sort of "happen". :D

Buck and Oscar came from a reputable breeder.
Oscar was born on Lookout Mountain in Tennessee. He is the sweetest, laid back little man. He's a B/T with big beautfiul brown eyes and has a gorgeous sad looking face. He's patient - quiet and the best little man!! He's my first baby.
Buck was born in Georgia. He's a red/smooth. He's my little imp high jumper. Something new with him everyday!! He has these little black whiskers and the most soulful brown eyes. His black whiskers make him look like a little mouse.
I love both of them equally and I'm so happy that they are in my life. Maybe someday - I'll decide to get them a little sister. :)

Well it was sort of a byb. They were the first and only litter. My boys were the two that did not sell (I still have no idea why). Their mom was hit by a car, and the owner did not have time for them. She also had another dog that bullied them (I think that is why they were so underweight).
We were not going to get dogs for another year, but knew that I wanted dachshunds as I grew up with them. We had joked about getting twin puppy dogs. We went to St. Augustine with my husbands parents to scout wedding sites, and they saw a sign for "two weiner dogs free to a good home".
They were ten months old. We were told they were housebroken, which helped make up my mind to get them. Anyway they were NOT they were crate broken. Covered in fleas and extremely under weight.
Anyway, we fixed all of that, except for the occasional accident, and haven't looked back since. And we now have our twin puppy dogs.

Rudy and Penny are littermates and come from a reputable show breeder. Unforunatly the breeder (Husband and Wife team) who loved the doxies had health problems (the husband) so they phased out the doxies so I got the last of the 2 they had.
Both parents were show dogs with many wins. I could probably have shown Rudy but I didn't want to get into all that. Penny was shown for about a year (we got her 1 year after Rudy) but she hated to be shown. She loved to go to the shows, get groomed, but walk around the ring - "No Way, you are going to have to drag me around the ring on my back!" Penny's words, not mine. So the breeders wife decided to get rid of her. So now, they are just loved and strut around all fancy like here at our home, they seem to love it!:Sun2: The breeders focus on Cardigan Corgi's and Norfolk terriers now, oh well, it's their loss!

Snoopy's previous owners had an ad in the local paper "doxies need home"
They also had a lh but that one was already gone. We spoke for a few minutes and they gave him to me along with his crate and bowls. They didn't ask any questions. When I asked why they didn't want him anymore they said a baby was on the way and they might be moving.
It was love at first sight for my son and myself.:sillylove::sillylove:

Elliot and Daggett are littermates, and were born here. (Their mother died in 2004, and their father died in January of this year, Harry).
Cartman was born from a stud service, his mother died in 2006(?), and his father was Harry as well.
Jannah came from a breeder (byb).
And Reese and Bob are littermates and were born here. Father was Harry as well, mother is Jannah.
All the breeding is my mom's fault. No more breeding goes on here.
My chihuahua Lucy was rescued from an abusive, neglectful home where she was starved almost to death.
My chihuahua/min pin mix was adopted from the SPCA.
My Spaniel/poodle mix was rescued from a neglectful home.
And my Jack Russel terrier mix was bought from a byb..by my mother. *sigh*.
