I hesitate to tell you about this but we're all friends here aren't we? Normally I'm really good in the car and sit on Mum's knee quietly so it came as a bit of a shock when even after having "been" in the backyard before we set off I did, well let's just call it "the double" all over Mum's knee on Saturday It was a very hot day and we'd been stuck in bad traffic for a while but the entire journey was only two hours all together. Mum can't believe it was badness and was very nice about it even tho we were on our way to see the inlaws who got to see their daughter in law covered in....stuff (which Dad found funny and Mum didn't). Has anybody any experience with this? What should Mum have done differently?

I have had this happen to me before, but not actually in my lap!

Hans and Bean tend to make a mess in the car if I get the to excited, or take them somewhere to soon after dinner.

What I do is try not to excite them. When we go for a walk, I announce it and they go nuts, but when we go for a car ride, I just take them outside to do their business as usual, then put them in the car. I find that my guys usually go quite a few times when they are excited. My youngest, Beanie, tends to be a bit skittish, so I have to really be careful with him. He has pee'd before and I think it is just nerves.

It could just be that Shelbie has an upset stomach and it did not coincide with your car ride. Maybe the stop and go traffic stirred things up?

It was probably just a bit of an upset tummy caused by the heat and the car ride. It could happen to anyone. My guys tend to have more "intestinal upsets" in the summer when it is really hot. Its been in the 90's and 100's here for the past month. It doesn't get that hot in England does it?

Also, Shelbie, you didn't perhaps snack on something you shouldn't have while out in the garden, did you?

Well, for a change it was probably about ninety degrees on Saturday - but you're right we don't really DO hot weather here!! I reckon it probably was a tummy upset and with the car stopping and starting in the traffic .... She's normally so good in the car, I expect her to greet her public with a royal wave and a nod! Thanks tho, its reassuring to share these things
