It has been one year today since Dex went to the bridge. Sometimes the pain is still as fresh and sharp as if it was only yesterday. When we had our first big snow and there was some depth to it I remembered how he loved to run out in the deep snow and bulldoze his way through it. You wouldn't even be able to see him under the snow just a disturbance in the snow where he was plowing through it as it was deeper than he was tall. I still miss him so much, his expressive hazel eyes, he long silky ear fur that I loved to run my fingers through.
I so wanted to be able to hold the crate manufacturers responsible for their poorly made crates, especially when I learned many other dogs had been harmed or killed by them. But I was unable to find an attorney that would handle an animal rights case anywhere near here. I know by the time I graduate from law school it will be much too late to file charges for Dexter, but you can bet I will be haunting the site about that crate and when one comes up it will be my first animal rights case.
No animal should have to suffer as he did from a crate that was purchased to keep them safe.
I still him so much.

Funny you should mention that Irma because I did this morning. I went in the hot tub room to his little altar and lit the candle and just thought about him and how much I missed him. Thank you for the candle because it made the moment even more special.

Awe, Terri that is so sad, hopefully someday you can help someone else who has suffered thru the same tragedy. When I meet someone in our area who has a doxie I start talking to them about back injuries bc when we lost Cocoa the vet was of no help to us. When I found dbb shortly afterwards and learned of all the things that could have been done to help her I was heartbroken. Maybe Cocoa and I can help at least one person safe their furbaby.

:bighug: to you today as you remember your sweet Dexter. So hard to believe that it was a year ago. I think your boy would be very proud of his momma going back to school and working so hard to get her law degree. I hope that you are able to get the changes made so that no other dogs get injured or killed by that crate design. I know that I have made a point to tell everyone that I see using a crate about what happened to Dexter to make them aware of the problem.
Thinking of you today and remembering your beautiful boy. :rainbowbridge: :candle15:

I'm sorry for the heartbreak, you are enduring. They sure know how to leave their paw prints, in our hearts forever. And it is just tragic, that a crate would cause a death. Heaven has so many of our special angels. (((hugs)))

I can't imagine how I would feel if this happened to me. My vet is very involved in legislation and has a very very strong voice. But surely-yes- you will be able to help many people through education as well.

Oh Teri! It seems like so long ago and only yesterday at the same time. Think about all you have accomplished in only a year's time. I think Dexter had something to do with that. I'll keep you and Wayne in my prayers and I know Dexter is frolicking at the Bridge saying "You go mom! I'm so proud of you!"

:hugs2: to you Terri-- my heart goes out to you and I can't imagine the pain and anger that you have endured. My hope is that one day the manufacturer will be held accountable. If anyone can make that happen, I know it is you.
RIP sweet Dexter. :candle:

Thoughts are on the wind to you on this day. Went to the greenhouse and took a rose start and put it in a pot with his name on it and will plant him in the memorial garden in the spring in his memory with his name (and yours) on the plaque in front of it.
Now my rose garden has Baron (mine), Heidi (Pam's) and Jethro (Andrea's) and in the spring will be adding Pete (Pam's) and Dexter (yours).

My heart goes out to you. I can empathize with your pain to some degree, as I've lost furkids myself. It's never easy. I hope time brings you some peace.

Southwind, that is beautiful. Thank you so much. I hope you can post pictures of it in the spring or summer when they are all in bloom. I bet it is beautiful. I love rose bushes but in the area we live the just don't do well because all we have is clay and rocks. lol When I was a child and lived with my grandparents, they had the most beautiful roses ever. I bet they had over 150 different types planted around the border of their place. It was amazingly beautiful.

Terri, Dexter will always be in your heart and you will always love him. I enjoyed reading the memories you shared about him...I can just picture Dexter in the snow. I remember when this happened and I learned a lot about crates because of this. You and Dexter are in my thoughts. :candle3:
