Thought this would be a good fun poll since some of us have water hounds:D
Kamper loves the water. We can hardly get him out when its time to go. Just really enjoys swimming and fetching his stick.
Maggie will walk a mile to stay out of water.
Natasha doesnt mind getting her paws a little wet, but as for swimming no way.

Miller, Cash and Bogart love to wade, but that's it. They won't go in farther than that . They wade around in the duck pond until the water is halfway up their sides, but won't go farther. Cash really wants to get a duck, but hasn't yet figured out how without swimming and getting really wet! Amanda doesn't like to go in at all.

Chief has never been exposed to swimming. Hmmm...

I didn't vote since I have a mixed crew.
Tanner loves teh water he would swim out into as deep of water as I would let him the one time he was beed at a lake. When the wake of a boat would hit him while he was swimming he would just ride it our fist bobbing down like a bobber on a line a fish had just struck them popping back up and just keep on paddling like nothing had ever happened.
Frank my big (18.5#) long standard will wade out but once it startes getting deep enough that all is weight is no longer on his feet he startst to get worried. He would stand broadside to teh bain body of the lake and when the wake of a boat woud hit him ist would sometimes knock him off this feet and he would come up sputtering near painic telling me he was goind to drown. He would water Tanner swimming enjoying himself in the deeper water but then turn himself back towards shore.
Dexter has never been close enoug to any thing bigger than a puddle so I cna't say for sure how he would react. He does hat to bet wet in any way so I suspect he would not immedately take to it but may be one of those dogs that falls in love with it once he got in. He is the most muscular of my boys and might make an excellent swimmer.

Timber hates water! 2 years ago, he was staying with my aunt since we were on vacation. My aunt had a Labrador, who loved the water. So my aunt tried to teach Timber to swim. But once Timber got in the water, he would climb on top of the Lab, who was laying down. What a crazy dog. :D

Con loves to swim if and only if it means we are tossing a ball or his dummie.
Chewy will if it means he can get to the other side to eat something gross. Or in a smaller area.
Ivy if it is GREEN & SLIMMY of course!
Otherwise she prefers to stick to mud puddles. Especially if they are with clay soil and it is hard to clean her up!
(She is just like her Granny, I got Corey when she was 4 and Ivy at 4 also. They both love the same things.) Green Slimy yuk, get out the leads quick!:raz: :sarcastic

Well, my vote is a qualified vote. 4 out 6 love the water! The other two could care less.

But he's getting used to it.
My beagle on the other hand, loves the water soooooo much. In fact, when I run a bath for myself I have to remember to keep the door closed or else I will return to find him sitting in the middle of my bubble bath!!!

A Beagle in a bubble bath... now that's funny.
Rooby loves to wade out and swim in ponds (and chase ducks); and she likes playing in the pool. Lexie prefers to watch from the shore in the shade.
We had friends down from NY for the 4th so Rooby got lots of pool time... she was one tired puppy!

My Lillie loves water. In fact every time I take a bath, she jumps up on the ledge of the tub, and them gets in with me. How silly!! I'm very excited to get her a new life jacket and I can't wait to take her to the lake with me this summer!!!

My girls don't actually swim, but both Penny and Maggie LOVE to chase frogs and will go right into the brook after them..... They get totally soaked but the water's no higher than their shoulders.
Heidi thinks they're nuts.

Tia hates water and nost of the time, will do anything to avoid it. When it's really hot out though, I put her in Tango's pool and she stands there wagging her tail so I think she likes it when she's really hot but that's the only time. Tango (Toller X) is the only one of my dogs who enjoys water.

We have a pool in our backyard and have recenly bought a boat so life jackets were a must. I did quite a bit of research on life jackets and these are the ones I thought were the best! They are cut similar to the Hug-A-Dog harness. They are a little more expensive but well worth it for the safety of your baby! The great people at Dachshund Delights tried out all different types of life jackets before deciding which one they would sell. Since our little guys have such a different build than most other pups not all flotation devices work as planned. Some actually flipped dachsies over onto their backs, not a good thing! Others either made the pups list to one side or slid around making for a very uncomfortable time in the water. These fit like a harness and also have a hidden D ring for leash attachment. The Ruff Wear K9 Float Coat gets a big  from us!

My crew is a mixed bag.
Elsa loves the water and has a grand time in it.
Sassy will go rolling around the edge of the water.
The others could care less.

Alexis will only go in the water when either me or my hubby take her in. Then she can swim.....right to the shore. She just doesn't like going in by herself. When we get the back done, thinking of getting a small kiddie pool for her & her brother to wade around in but no deep water.

I didn't vote because I have no clue - mine have never been near a lake or pool so I don't know yet! Considering how they despise the poison drops, I can't imagine they would enjoy a pool or a lake. But maybe?! I don't know!

Need a don't know category. Haven't been anywhere
near water with her. Will have to make a point of doing that.

I said "Yes loves the water" but that isn't totally true. I wouldn't say Mud LOVES the water, but he does do more than just wade in it. He will swim and sometimes seems to really enjoy it. :)

So far, I'd say Dragon loves water! TWO times now he has jumped into the tub while I was taking a bath. He also does not mind getting a bath himself in the least. He gets very excited when I start running the tub. The first two times I gave Dragon a bath when he was a tiny little guy, Nick was HORRIFIED. I ran the tub, and I got in the tub with him, so he would not be scared. I really think it paid off!
We'll see how he does this summer on camping trips! :crsfnger:

Oh no, Blusie Sue hates taking baths or getting her feet wet at all! When we go walking, when she sees a puddle we are by, or having to go through she will dig her little frito feet in, or she will go around it!
Cocoa and Me
04-09-2007, 12:59 AM
Cocoa likes baths and always want to join me in the shower. But she HATES cold water, so non-heated pool and the ocean haven't been a real "hit" with her :dizzy: Mousse on the other hand disappears when I run the bath and then get the towels. He knows that if I get the "special" towels, he needs to hide :sofunny: I'm hoping maybe this summer he'll like the beach, but I truely doubt it :sosad:

I haven't had a chance to see how GingerSnap takes to swimming yet, her being a baby and all.
Sport loves the water, he wants to swim every chance he gets. Finding a beach at one of the lakes around here that will allow dogs in the water, though, is a hassle!

Mine both hate baths. Buffy on the other hand likes to get in the pool with the kids. Tucker NOT so much. Not at all.

Both Macy and Sammy will stick their paws in the river. I'm hoping that they will like the pool I'm going to get them for the summer.

Thibodeaux HATES water - a couple years ago on a hot summer's day I put him in the Labrador's wading pool to cool off and he did not appreciate that at all. He climbed out, shook off and stomped off to my sister's house, which is next door and stood by her back door. Apparently he figured if I was going to be so 'mean' to him he would go move in with Aunt Carole!
