Yippee...Finally found a vet who seems to be good..and he makes housecalls!!! Combination of conventional and holistic care. Before my first visit he spent 20 minutes on the phone with me at 9:00pm. I'm impressed.<IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm30.gif" border=0>

That's great, a good vet can be hard to find.
I know someone who was helping take the neighbors dog to a vet because it was having uncontrollable seizers. It was early in the morning and they went to nearest place and the vet, who lives in the same house and his practice, would not see the dog because it was not one of his. Can you believe that??

I can definitely believe it. It's nuts...vets are like the HMO docs. In and out in 5 minutes..Health care is just not what it used to be for humans or animals. (or are they one in the same?!)

A vet who wouldn't see a seizuring dog isn't much of a vet. The vet I worked for would meet someone at the clinic at 2 a.m. whether he had ever seen them or not.

The vet you mentioned reminds me of the story of (I think) the town of Abilene, KS in the old cattle drive days: The people of Abilene decided that these cattle drives were just too much trouble, what with all those smelly cows, rowdy, drunken cowhands, etc. So they told them they didn't want their business. So the herd owners obliged. It was right after that that Abilene suddenly realized that these trail herds were the source of most of their income. They invited the herds back, but no one came. Abilene's population dwindled considerably.
