If there is anyone interested in a doxie get together here-let's put one on! If there is already something in the works, please share! I know there are dog parks here, maybe a picnic or potluck would be fun. Anyone interested?:circle:

I have been interested in getting something put together for MN, IA, and WI.
Sandy (doxnzx3) lives in WI, I live in IA and we were talking about getting together near maybe Prairie Du Chien or Madison, WI. I don't know if that is equally close to Twin Cities or not.
If you end up getting something pulled together in the Twin Cities, I would probably be interested in attending, provided it is not one of the many weekends already booked up this summer!
I'm going to be going through there 3 times during the first two weeks of September!
Please, keep me in the loop.

I'm not sure where Prairie Du Chien is, but Madison WI is about 4hrs. away. Also, this summer is booking up very fast, September looks better. Let's keep posting about this and maybe we'll be able to pull something together! I also thought about posting a flyer or two at my local Petsmart. What do you think?

it looks like you all might be able to set up something amongst yourselves there. Wish we could attend.

It seems like La Cross or Madison would be pretty much in the middle of the 3 of us. Both of those cities have dog parks.
Sandy and I were talking about getting together for kind of like a camping weekend.
But if you don't feel like driving that far and end up just having a meet up in Twin Cities, I would still like to attend if I can.
The only other member I can think of in Twin Cities is Willsana.
Anybody else in any of these 3 states?
The Midwest Dachsiefest is one of the first weekends in September. I wish I could to that but no luck. I guess they get like 300 dachshunds!!

Annie in Minnesota here. I live about an hour north of the Twins Cities. We also have Paul and his family who live near the Metro area. I have been hoping we could get enough folks interested in the monthly Dachshund Meetups either in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area or in St. Cloud.
Where is the Midwest Dachsiefest? Any chance of us meeting up there?
Paul, are you out there?

The midwest dachsiefest is in Danville, IL on Sept. 6th. It is a ways southeast of Chicago. Here is the link to their webpage http://www.homestead.com/midwestdachsiefest/
It sounds like a blast! But woe is me - I will be in the Twin Cities that day!

I have been through Danville. Then spent the next 3 hours trying to figure out where I had heard "Danville Train." I finally came up with it! "Virgil Caine is the name and I served on the Danville train..."
The fest is the day before my birthday! I should be able to go. It is only right. ;)
Count me in! Anyplace is fine! We are usually camping on the weekends so if there is a camping get together that would be fun too. I am anxious to see how Sadie reacts with other dachshunds. The next available weekend would be 8/30. Sept. is pretty much open except the weekend of 9/13.
Thanks,
Paul

Wouldn't ya just know it, something good going on and I haven't kept up with all of the recent posts.
August 30th I have off for 3 days! That would work good for me. Also I am off on vacation starting September 13th weekend but that wouldn't work out for Paul. I only get one weekend off during vacation. I like my everyother weekend off and on, except times like this. I would love to go down to Danville but that is my weekend on.
I am willing to travel, it is about a 5/6 hour drive to the twin cities for me. Do the dog parks there have a space for small dogs only? 2 out of my 3 don't like the big dogs to much. But they will tolerate them. I have 3 expens that I could bring along if they need to behave themselfs.
I haven't been to the dog parks in Madison, but I can ask my sister in law how they are set up. It would be fun to be able to rent an open pavillion if we could. There is always the parks along the Mississippi, that would be a nice setting.
This is getting so exciting!:bounce: :D

My availability consists of the weekends of August 15th and 22nd, and September 19th and 26th.
I will be on my way up to Canada the weekend of Aug. 30th and on my way back home the weekend of September 5th. I will be spending some time in the Twin Cities on Sat., Sept. 6th if somebody would like to get together for a couple hours at a park.
Also, I will be in Twin Cities on September 13th for a wedding. We are planning on having a "sitter" for the dogs that weekend.
After that weekend, it's pretty much wide open - unfortunately, it's also getting to where it could be chilly in the evenings...

How does Saturday Sept. 6th look for everyone? It is far enough in advace to be able to plan for it-I could get some flyers out and try to book a pavillion in one of the canine friendly parks in the area. :dog: Next thing-what time? Shall we say high noon? Or would later in the afternoon work better? Fun Fun Fun...Pepper's having a good day, so I'm havin' a good day:angel: He's just the sweetest little guy when he wants to be! But I have a sitter coming for my son in about a half hour, we will see how that goes! Let's see if the 6th will work, 'kay?

Kendora,
That would work for me.
I think Sandy will have to work and Annie said she was planning on going to the Midwest Dachsiefest that day now. I don't know about Paul.
I would say that noon is fine. You could put up some flyers at some of the pet stores. Please try to make it easy to access from an interstate so we don't get lost. :)
My boyfriend is going to some huge snowmobile sale so he could just drop me off and then pick me up when he is done "shopping".
I noticed that the off-leash parks cost a ton of $$$ to go to. Is there no such thing as a day pass for visitors?

It turns out that the weekend of the Sept. 6th is the weekend my friend will be visiting from Scotland! It is a tradition for all of "Us Girls" to go to the Rennasance Festival. It is how we celebrate my birthday each year. So it would be just too rude to bow out.
So no Doxie Fests or picnics for me and Willow. :(
Oh, well, we always have a blast at the Rennasance Festival!:spotting: Willow came last year. Maybe she can come again this year too.
Hi,
Sorry I haven't responded earlier. Sept. 6th will work  Were you guys thinking of a state park? If so, we will probably camp there for the weekend.
Thanks for coordinating this. Let me know if you need any help.

Hi everyone! I've been doing some research, and there is a really nice off leash park in Roseville thats...FREE! All doggies have to be vacc of course, but that's a big nothin' compared to the 50.00 Minneapolis charges for the use of their off leash areas. Plus, there is a fenced area for smaller doggies. Yeah!!Let's get feedback, and I'll keep checkin' into stuff. This is getting exciting!:flower:
Kendora,
We will be there. My wife and I want to see Sadie's reaction w/other weiner dogs. Hopefully she won't be :afraid: or :fierce:

Well, that sounds good! It may just be our family, yours and the hounds-unless more people see this post or come from my flyers at pet-smart and petco. I will post directions in a few days, and i hope Pepper is up to this. He bit the pet sitter this weekend. If he acts up, I guess we will just have to go. :(

How about dressing Willow as a princess for the Ren Fest.

She would be the hit of the day.

Oh My Stars! That is just too funny! Did you see the "Biker Babe" pink jacket? :D
I think I heard Willow mutter something like "REAL agents don't wear pink." As she scurried out of the room. Do you have any idea what she meant? ;)

Well, as I let Kendora know. I have to opt out since I will be MOVING back to Canada instead of just going there for a visit the first week in September.
I do believe this next month will be one of the most difficult in my life.
I hope you guys have fun - wish I could join you but it just isn't in the cards.
