I have troubles training my doxie, for one thing if he heels, I can't see him. It is hard to do stuff around my ankles. And corrects have to be so small. Has anyone here trained their doxie for obedience?

I am currently taking Miller, my 15 lb B/T dapple, to obedience school and, yes, it is hard to watch them. It's hard to tell if they're really sitting, with rear end on the ground, or just sort of squatting, not touching. I'm only 5'4" which makes it a little easier. I'm not planning on showing either, just going to help Miller with his "issues", so I'm not really particular about things being "just right". What specific problems are you having?

I'm only 5'4" too :) but i am over weight which doesn't help. I would like to take Remmy to classes. He knows how to sit and come and is learning stay, but all those i have taught with off the leash and using his ball as a reminder

I think that classes are really good. I have taken dogs to obedience class before, but things change and new instructors have new insights. Also working with other people and dogs can be a great help. You also have the chance to ask specific questions of the instructor. I strongly recommend it. It has helped Miller overcome a lot of distrust of people and his fears. I have learned to distract him when he becomes aggressive to other dogs and make him do something that I can reward him for which seems to be working, too.
