We have now nicknamed Lunchbox the Pee-Man because he seems to have problems going to the bathroom lately. He is 6 months now and we figured he was starting to do really well with the housebreaking, but for the last couple of weeks, he can't seem to control his bladder.

Last night my hubby came home from work and Lunchbox peed the minute he was let out of his crate. He seems to do this a lot when he gets excited too. Then he peed by the door before he was let outside. Then he peed again when the hubby brought him back in. Then I came home 15 minutes later and he peed all over the kitchen floor from excitement. He pees all over our guests and it is sooooo embarrassing! Occasionally he rolls over and pees all over himself. I'm not sure if this is a medical problem or not. He knows what 'outside' is and he knows he's not supposed to 'go' inside but I'm not sure why he hasn't learned to hold it yet. Any suggestions or comments?

Have you told your vet about this problem? Miller was a submissive pee-er when I got him. When I took him to the vet the first time, he peed on the floor when I picked him up to put him on the table and I told the vet he was a submissive pee-er. The vet took a urine sample and he had a kidney infection. He will still occasionally pee when he's scared, but since the kidney infection cleared up it's much, much better. You might want to check on it.

It wouldn't hurt to have him check out. Let's see six months about time you are most likely thinking about nutering any way. I have two boys that have ocassional problems with submissive peeing. Tanner and Dexter have both had the problem at one pint or another. In their cases it's most likely to occure when they have to do something they don't really want to. Tanner use to be very likely to give a shower when it was time for him to kennel up Dexter If I wanted him to get off the bed or out of a chair that he was comfortable in. It didn't take too many times with Tanner to soo learn if I went to pick him up to take him to the kennel to keep his front side pointed away from me:D OK you twiised my arem you now know how Tanner got his Woody nick name:D

Having a urine specimen checked is a good idea. My first Doxie had ongoing bladder infections. She would squat and pee alot. Frankie is a submissive pee-er. Whenever I come home she wants belly rubs, rolls over and pees all over herself. Thank goodness she doesn't do that indoors. She knows as soon as she comes out of her crate, it's outside to go walkies.

Thanks for the advice. I'll take him in to get checked as soon as I can.
