I got an e-mail today regarding these treats. I would like to try them for my boys, but is the rawhide component in these dangerous? If it is ground up and molded, won't this eliminate some of the risk? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

don't care for this treat. The only rawhides I would get would be the bully sticks that are made in the USA. Other than those, rawhides and the like I steer (ha ha) clear of. I use treats like liver, or treats at sitstay.com . Most of them are very healthy and dogs love em.

Just my 2 cents though.

I don't like rawhide because it can break off and possibly get lodged in a dog's throat. My dachshund likes the "Booda Velvet" chews they are made from corn starch and won't stain the carpet and don't make a mess like rawhide does when it's wet. they come in different flavors, my dogs loves the cheeseburger ones. They also come in bone shapes and "chips" (large pieces). You can get them just about anywhere, I have even seen them in grocery stores. I hope this helps.

I just am not happy with rawhides and normally do not use them. I really prefer liver or chicken treats

corn starch products. They are not very healthy for our puppers and can cause some tummy upset and allergies. A tip, any dog food, treat you can find in a grocery store is NOT of good quality.

I used to live in a town that was not "priviledged" enough to have large pet stores. Our only option was to buy pet food from the grocery store. My dog ate Kibbles&Bits for 5 years before I adopted her and has always been in good health. I use the same vet the previous owners did, so I know her whole history. I now buy her food at Petsmart because they have a better variety. As long as your vet thinks the food is a good source of nutrition, etc it shouldn't matter where you buy it. :dog:

are not usually sufficiently educated on nutrition. Most of them sell and suggest Science Diet which is one of the WORST foods out there. It is full of byproducts and preservatives. If you have a holistic vet or a younger vet (who is more up to speed on nutrition) you'd get better advice on what to feed. However, it simply is not true that if your vet says it's a good food, it is. Pet owners need to be educated consumers and read up on nutrition.
