Midwest DachsieFest, an annual day-long picnic for dachshunds and those they own, will be held in Danville, Illinois, on Saturday, 6 September. This is a very well-attended event, with lots of activities, including a costume contest (for the dogs, mind you), and a parade of rescue dogs. Most of the major dachshund rescue groups are represented too. This year DodgerList one of the sponsors of the event is selling raffles for a beautiful hand made quilt with a lot of pictures of actual dachshunds on it. I know that there is a picture of three of my foster dogs on it.

Further information can be found at www.homstead.com/midwestdachsiefes There is a link to the DachsieFest website at the DRNA Home page, www.drna.org.

I will be there will all four of my cart dogs and several of my fosters. Please check out the web sites and try to come if you can.

You still considering going? Looks like I am going to make the trip just me and the pups. I'm think I'll drive up in the morning and back that night.

I wish I could go to the Fest, but it's too far for me and the pups. I did buy raffle tickets though. Maybe we'll win the quilt . . . . .

Hoping to have lots of sunshine, cool breezes, and tons of FUN! I will be selling Dachsie Windows signs, Refridgerater Magnets (featuring my puppers of course :D ) some button pins.....I hope to raise funds for Eileen's Rainbow, DRNA and Dodgerslist......the 3 charities I am quite fond of. So come by and buy LOTS of stuff. They will make GREAT gifts for dachsaholics. I would like to recoup a little of my expenses for supplies, but if I don't, my hubby can just kill me off for being too soft :afraid: I think raising funds for Eileen's Rainbow will be a TOP priority because I don't think it has any finds started yet and the idea was very dear to Eileen's heart. Just seems it needs to be jump started a bit. If you want to see any of the Romandachs Resident Dachshunds...I shouldn't be too hard to find......LOL
Please introduce yourself so I know who you are!!
I hope to see and meet several people there!!!!!

MIDWEST DACHSIE FEST PICNIC PICTURES (http://www.homestead.com/midwestdachsiefest/Pictures.html)

Looks like a good time was had by all. Sadly Mom threw her back out and I didn't get to make the trip. I am definetly going to try for next year though.

If anyone got pictures we sure would like to see them.

What great pictures! I love the song, too! I always loved the Dachsong and now I have two dachshund songs.

Last years pics. I suppose eventually Linda will get some pics in to post, I wouldn't expect it for at least a week. I don't know if she got pics but I know plenty of people were taking pics, so surely they will send them to her to post on the website. I was too busy with on-lookers and watching Milo and Oscar my fence climbers. Milo got out twice. Oscar behaved himself. It was a fun and tiresome weekend. Too much stuff to do, people to meet, etc for one day. We all got into trouble at the camping area due to barking dogs. Of course there must have been a million kids running around like chickens with their heads cut off. On skate boards, scooters, bikes.....lots of things to set dachshunds off. The park guide come around and told us that people sure didn't like our dogs, we told him that we wasn't real fond of their children either. They gave us forms to reserve a whole area just for dachshund lovers next year. Hopefully it will work out. This year they stuck us in the middle of the family camping area. I had to put my dogs to bed at 7:00 pm on Staurday night due to complaints, well guess who had to potty at 5 am!!!!!!! I hope they woke everyone up....LOL
I did try to keep them quiet!

The sad part about the "problem" at the camp ground was that it was not really the dogs. Beckie and Jill had three camp spaces beside each other. They barked at other dogs or the skate boarding kids. Those kids were really irritating. Over all the furbabies were very well behaved, but they got the blame anyhow.

I have a slew of pictures but it will be a few days before I can get them up.
