And I do mean a LAKE!! She has never done that before. And then later, I had to clean up another big puddle in the kitchen. If she has a bladder infection, wouldn't be just little piddles and not Niagra Falls? I'm at my wits end! After changing my pants, I picked up the phone and made an appt with the vet to have her checked AGAIN for bladder infection. We did this once before and it was negative, but this peeing on my lap is ridiculous! Dolly Doglet is due for her shots (no Lepto) so it will be double duty on Saturday. Any additional advice is welcome. If she doesn't have an B.I. I believe I will try retraining her with puppy pads, or as I read on another board, Adult continence pads (cheaper...more obsorbant) Am I giving in to a spoiled Madderoo? This mommy is whipped! OH! And I might add, she can sleep the whole night without going out AND rarely is there a mess when we get home from work! Should I still get her tested, or does this sound more like a behavior thing?

Thanks for listening....er....reading.

Sandi, has Maddie been checked for bladder stones? Peaches had them and she did exactly the same thing--she peed RIVERS. We checked and checked her for infections, for diabetes...nothing. Then one day, as she squatted on the kitchen floor and I stood by, sighing, paper towel roll in hand, out came a tiny little pearl-like object. When she was X-rayed, it turned out her bladder was just FULL of them!

Maybe it's time for an X-ray?

REALLY??? I never heard of this! I will definitely request an x-ray! I've never seen any stones come out but this sounds promising. Did Peaches get cured? How is she now? Thanks Pamela!

Sandi

Anymore advice would be most welcome.

Hi Sandi,

Masse peed a lake on my mother one time . . . apparently she had been holding it for some time and when my mother came over and scooped her up to love on her, the next thing we knew Mom was soaked. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif

Mom doesn't pick her up until masse is done being excited now. http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif

Just out of curiosity, was she excited at the time or did it just come out of nowhere?

Good luck and please let us know what the Vet says,

Mark

Sandi, the stones are treated with a drug to dissolve them, and the dog has to eat special food (low in minerals) to prevent the formation of new stones. The food is disgusting! It's white http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/sick.gif and pasty; Peaches loved it! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif Once the stones were gone, they didn't return--this happened when she was about three. No idea why they formed in the first place.

How old is Maddie now? I guess there could be lots of reasons for the problem, but it wouldn't hurt to rule bladder stones out.

My Schnauzer did this a couple of times and was diagnosed with Cushings. She took a pill every day and had no further problems. Cushings is a hormonal disorder and manifests in different ways. Darby lost control of her bladder when she was very relaxed.

Good luck at the vet's!
