Hey guys, I have a problem with my beagle. I know that this is a dachsie bullentin, but I wonder if anyone out there may have had this problem before. Yesterday, my beagle was favoring his back paw. I turned her over to look at it and saw the pads on the bottom of her paw are raw and sore looking. It looks like the pad is coming off. I cleaned it and put some neosporin on it and put a sock over her paw. I took the sock off today because I did not know if it needed air to heal faster.

I'd suggest a quick trip to the vet to get it checked out. They might also want to give you some an oral antibiotic to guard against any infection. If a pad is really hanging loose like it sounds in your message I would note recommend home treatment as your front line. My mill rescue Aggie was very prone to infections between toes or pads for the first year I had her till we found the proper diet. To drain her infections we did the old warm water soak and pressure on the infected site to keep it draining 3-4 times a day. The first two or three times we also used an oral antibiotic but the rest of the times we caught things early.

Yep, it's time for a vet visit! Your beagle may have cut his footpad or it could be a fungal infection. In any event, a bacterial infection is likely to develop. I'd have it checked out pronto!

Good luck!
