Let us know as soon as you find out the results of any test. We will hope it just a little cyst or one of those benign fatty tumors. One of the girls my folks had developed several of the fatty tumors, but they are not considered a big deal.

Sending best wishes and many rays

Put on your shades, Pluto! Here come more RAYYYYYZZZZZZ from Pamela, Farfel, and your soul-mate, Peaches! Betting it's a fatty tumor. Farfie has started to get them--he now has one large one on his belly and a few smaller ones too.... http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/disgust.gif Nothin' to worry about, other than the marring of doggie perfection....
Keep us posted, pls!

Pluto (thanks to the rayzzzzz from all over the country) is okay. It was a fatty tumor on his chest, not uncommon occurrence for older dogs. Pluto and I send many http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/kiss2.gif kisses to you all for your most excellent thoughts.

Good news Pluto, that's what I suspected it would be. These aren't a big deal they are common in both people and dogs. I've got one on my leg that I've had for over 32 years. The doctors don't like to do much with them unless they start to get into a joint or muscle where they are creating a problem. My doctor told me in a very large number of cases they will return if removed and insurance companies consider the surgery cosmetic.
Just in case any one ever does face the big C (cancer) in one of their dog feel free to drop me a note the boys and I would be happy to server as a temporary stopping point or help arrange motels, or what ever for anyone needing to come to the Colorado State University Vet Teaching Hospital which has earned the reputation of being one of the leading cancer research facilities in the nation. Many of their developments are being used in people as well as animals. They are best noted for their bone cancer developments but do treat all forms of cancer.

so glad to hear that, Lanie!
Are they just going to watch it, or did they remove it?
At any rate, we are all so happy for the mature lil guy.

Lanie!
Just saw this thread and am so glad that Pluto is ok. About 3 weeks ago I flipped out when my 10 yr old lab Diva couldn't walk and she has a huge lump on her side. I though. "Oh God! That tumor finally got her!"
When I took her to the vet the next day, he said she was fine, the lump was a fat limpoma and she probl. pinched a nerve- that's why she was crippled for a few days.
Now her bed is on the porch, she has forsaken her dog house for a cushy blanket there and there are doggie teeth prints in the gate to prove she will not be hindered in her sleeping arrangements...

Krista, the vet is just leaving it alone. I don't believe they like to put a 12 year old dog w/ a heart murmer under general anastesia (sp?). She told me its pretty common in older pooches.
Tom, let's hope we never need to take advantage of your kindness, but heartfelt thanks for the thought.
Thanks again for all your good wishes. You are all terrific.

Glad to hear its just a fatty tumor. A friend of mine calls them old dog bumps. No need to worry unless they start to grow. My mom''s older longhair, Joey has one on top of his head.

I'm so glad to hear that Pluto is ok. Those fatty deposits can certainly cause a lot of worry, but thankfully, they don't cause any real problems. Give Pluto a big kiss from Mickey and me.

Lanie, we are all so glad that it's just a bleb (that's what my friend Viv-the-Doctor calls lipomas)! Farfel says, "Welcome to the world of bumpy older dogs, Pluto!" http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif
