Just got back from the vet. I throw this one one the table because I value everyones input.

Aug did not seam himself this morning. He did not do his ritual second poopeedoo this morning. So, I had a gift at noon (thank GOD I was able to come home for lunch today) He usually feels upset that he messes his creat but today was different. He was lethargic, scared and very clingly. Not the normal Daddy's home lets play. He grunted as he sniffed too.

This evening I came home (mom had to work a double again) He was not himself and the grunting and wheezing is worse.

Again, thank GOD the vet took us at 7PM. He check Aug from head to toe. Lungs are good, eyes clear, nothing in the throat, gums nice and pink. Runny nose, grunts like a pig when he sniffs, (snores like a train, but that is the norm )

He said allergies with a possible start of a sinus infection. (wife and I just got done with that) gave a shot of anti biotics and benidrl. 12.5 mg every 12 hours.

Does this sound farmiliar with any of your puppers?

Not a bit of experience with the malady. Just want to add Augie's name to my list of so many of our dachsies having a variety of disorders. The list is In My Prayers. Hope, like Shelbie's problem, it is small and won't amount to anything really serious.
Let us know,

David, most of Peaches's allergies are skin, with a bit of GI thrown in for fun. But I do know, from years of living with an allergic dog, that spring and fall are the worst times. Hope Augie is back to his funny old self soon! Keep us posted!

David, sorry I didn't get to post this last night....I got kicked off the chat, and my hubby came home about that time, so I gave up getting back in and went to bed.
http://www.peteducation.com/dogs/dogdiseases.htm

This is an alphabetized listing of pet maladies and such.

I know there are several articles on allergies. You could also look under colds, sinus, runny nose, cough....etc.

Hope that helps and hope Aug gets better soon!!

Is the Benedryl helping?

Benadryl and baby asperin are working great. Last night after the chat he still had some sinus congestion. This morning there was a major improvement (just added the baby aspern) Wife left a message that he need a big walk. Why? He's fine, no congestion at all! The benadryl put a dent in it but, as soon as the asperin was added, he was a new dog the next day. I was looking for a decongestant for him, but, I guess I don't need it.

May be it was the rayz

Thanks for all the advice, I hope that someone else can read this thread and use this info.

Augie barks a big thanks!

David and Augie,

So glad to hear you are feeling better, Aug.
I have been away from the board and sure do miss it. It is valuable to read what works and what doesn't so I can take the best care of Big O.

Take care.
