View Full Version : Shocker

Let me start by disclaiming that Reuben, my 1 year old mini, is the first male dog I have owned along with owning a female at the same time. Here's what happened, I was on my way home from a funeral today and called my kids to make sure every thing was well. My son asked,"Mom, have you seen Reuben?" I said what do you mean. He said, "His weannie is touching the ground." I knew exactly what had happened he had tried to breed with the beagle. My kids were freaking out when I got home. I have to say that it was quite a sight and Reuben did not look at all happy with the situation. I am not sure for how long he was in this predictament. I thought that we were in need of a trip to the vet. I called 1st and the vet calmed me down and said that it is quite common for this part of the weannie to get stuck and not retract. She said that the hair on his weannie may be introverted causing him difficulty in retracting. The vet suggested putting vaseline on it and allowing some time for the swelling to decrease. Seconds after putting vaseline on it he was able to get it back in. That was certainly a shocker for me and the family.

I'm sorry, but I can't stop laughing!!! It's not supposed to be funny, but I can just imagine your kids trying to figure out why Ruben's weenie was all goofed up like that!!
I'm so glad he's fine, but I still can't stop laughing

Eek! I guess it's good to learn these things but, boy, that would be a bit of a shocker. Our little Bug has only ever tried to mate with pillows and for the most part we've been able to keep his favourite 'girlfriends' away from him.
Thanks for sharing!

I know how you feel. When Oscar was around 5 months old he was paying alot of attention to his weenie. Oscar is the first male dog I have owned. Well, I walked into the bathroom one day to see him there with it stuck out. This was a big surprise as I had never seen anything like it! So I started yelling for my husband, who helped Oscar get back to normal.

well We haven't had that happen, but I must admit it gave me the giggles too.
Now we have had another funny little boy problem....not sure if I can even tell it. (maddie, close your eyes!)
About two days before Rudy was getting snipped, he was feeling pretty frisky. He decided to try some romance with my arm. Well of course I put him in his x-pen to put a stop to that. I went back to do something and when I came out Rudy was asleep on his lumped up blanket with a rather pleased expression on his face. There on the floor was a little puddle and lets just say it wasn't pee.

One of my wire males, Thorin, had a love affair with his pillow. He was a show dog so couldn't be "snipped". I kept telling him he was going to go blind if he didn't quit.
Hi Mary,
It would be a tough sell to use the "your palms'll get hairy" one! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif

Wotan was licking around his weenie yesterday, and reminded of what I read here, I looked seriously into his eyes and discussed what might happen if it got "stuck".
Another thing to use vaseline for!

Back in March, for his birthday, I bought Oscar a giant stuffed fleecy shaped bone(it was longer them him). Well, it quickly became his girlfriend! I promptly broke up that relationship.

Oh, these stories are TOO funny!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif I have never heard of the "extra part" getting stuck in the "ON" position, and I have to admit, I laughed out loud. Sue, I loved your kids' matter-of-fact reaction too! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif
Farfel, a dog of dignity, has never had any, um, unusual exposures, but Arnold used to when he was younger. He'd be sound asleep in the classic position--on his back, head and legs just flopping around--and suddenly, it would just...appear! If you woke him up, he'd just look at you with this goofy expression. It used to reduce us to helpless piles of giggles.

http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif You guys are too funny!!! http://dachsie.org/ubb/smilies/lol.gif
This reminds me of my Maxwell. He used to have that same problem but he even had it after he was "snipped". As he got older it got worse??? Don't get that but they say age changes you. Sue, I can honestly say I understand how you felt as you were "helping" Reuben out of his situation!!

Many years ago someone gave us a big stuffed toy for our dachsies. It was sort of a blue dragon/lion thing and the size of a dachsie. Wotan fell in love with it instantly...and passionately if you get my drift. He'd leap on that "blue thing" as we called the toy several times a week and have his way. He especially seemed to like to drag it out of his toy box and place it in the middle of the floor when guests were over and then live up to his middle name (which is Humper). Whenever we went on a trip it would be left at home and Wotan would start crying a mile before we got home...and within 20 seconds literally of when we opened the front door he would be on its head. At the age of 9 Wotan was neutered when he had the perineal hernia operation and since then he has only had his way with the toy once..and that really surprised us that he still could.
