View Full Version : One greenie a day OK?

I've recently been feeding each of my boys one petite greenie a day, and they seem to love them. The bag I got says this is OK (and even recommended - but the more I feed, the more I buy so of course they would say that), as long as it doesn't amount to more than 25% of their daily nutrition. I like being able to give the boys a treat they like while I eat dinner, knowing it is also good for their teeth. Does anyone see any concern with one petite greenie a day?

PetEdge has them on big time sale, but before I spend that much, wanted to check if it's OK. Thanks!

I feed mine greenies, too. They can get expensive, though. Make sure that the bag says they are old enough for the petite, because they have the broken up little chips for the babies.

as long as their is no reaction, tummy upset or them gaining too much weight.

PetEdge has them on sale right now where you can get 75 individually wrapped petites for 34.99. Feeding two a day (one each pupper) is less than $30 a month. Think I'm gonna stock up, but that's why I asked - so I don't have a boatload that I can't feed them. Thanks!

Is this an online site?

Yep, it's PetEdge.com I have ordered from them before so they sent me an e-mail with this special. Let me know if you can't find it, and I can e-mail you their info.

They mostly sell to retailers, so their stuff is packaged that way, but they will sell to individuals. They charge a handling fee if your order is under $50, but I just save up and order a lot at a time.

I've been very happy with their stuff and their service.

www.petedge.com too! Their stuff is quite reasonably priced.

My two doxies only like Greenies. Here's a hint if you have more than one dox - Because they are so expensive, buy the regular sized bag which holds 14 treats and cut them in half. The petite bag holds 24 so it's like you're getting 4 extra treats and sometimes they are a dollar less than the petite.
I used to sell them, but after shipping costs, I wasn't offering much of a discount to the consumer.

That was such a sad and tragic story. I just started giving Greenies to Charlie and I watch him. You have to be so careful there are just so many things our little ones can choke on. I think the Greenies are ALOT safer than Pigs Ears etc and are obviously way more healthy. BE Careful.

I think this is just a reminder to be careful with whatever we give our loved ones, and to know that anything can become a choking hazard if not used/supervised properly. Not to make light of this, and I hope this gets taken in the vein that I mean it, but my brother-in-law's mother died after choking on a hot dog. It was awful, and could have probably been avoided had she been properly supervised (she had dementia and was in a home), but it was an accident that could happen to anyone at anytime. We need to always be careful and watch what our little ones are doing..........

that we need to supervise regadless of what we feed our loved ones, i.e. their have been dogs known to choke on kibble. However, as stated in this story, the problem is with the greenies is that the consistency of them when dissolved becomes like cement and adhering to the throat etc. This is where the problem comes in.
