I was just wondering....is it possible for pups to catch hooman colds from their hoomans??? I have a rotten cold<IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm36.gif" border=0> and I would hate to give it to my babies!!! Does anyone have any ideas???

I think if you were to ask 50 vets this question, they would be split right down the middle. Some say they can, others say that colds are "host-specific", meaning only one species can get it.

It would be interesting to know for sure, but it may be one of those chicken/egg things.

With a real young pup I might opt to play it safe but I also know dachshunds can be real nursemaids. I know the females we had when I was growing up always insisted on being plastered right next to anyone who was sick and almost refused to leave their side. When they were with someone sick they wouldn't even go running to kitchen it anyone was in there. I can't remember any of them getting sick so I don't think they are too prone to catching things from us.
