Sadie's overheating?

Sadie, my LH mini-dachsund, likes to burrow under the covers- a typical dachshund thing, I think. However, she stays under there and starts panting. I'll uncover her, but she burrows deeper under the blankets and keeps panting. Eventually I'll make her get out from under the covers. Should I be concerned??? Or should I just let her be???

My Penny does the same thing! I used to worry, but finally decided that she's just a little dim witted! The more I try to get my panting puppy OUT from under the stuffy blankets, the more determined she is to burrow back under. It seems that her natural sense of self-preservation would kick in if she was in danger, but I start thinking about every story I've ever read of babies accidentally smothered under blankets in their cribs.....

Mean Dachsie Mom that I am, I put my own needs first and pull her out when she starts panting! I'll be watching this thread to see if I'm being needlessly cruel.
