My little two year old guy has a pee problem: he leaks, but only when he's asleep. (!) It can happen no matter how recently he's been out, if he's sleeping--and where is he sleeping but in my bed or on my lap, of course.

The vet sees no evidence of infection, and a urinalysis turned up nothing. Has anyone else had this, um, issue?

And of course I can't kick him outta bed--I'm just changing the sheets frequently. Sigh...

I have heard of this type of thing, but never experienced it. It usually seems to come up with females though.

Ask the vet about incontinence, if they know nothing, get a second opinion. If It is incontinence, thye should be able to help remedy the problem with medication.

If thats not possible, what about putting a diaper on him at night (cut a hole for the tail). I believe I heard someone else on this board suggest using an ace bandage or other elasticized material to keep a maxi pad covering that area.

good luck, maybe someone else will have better advice.

I don't mean to be indelicate but are you sure its urine? Sometimes boys tend to be a bit drippy in that area. Are we talking large wet spots or small yellowish spots? <IMG SRC="http://dachsie.org/ubb/cwmsmilies/cwm26.gif" border=0>

Is your little boy neutered? Both males & females can have an incontinence problem that is the result of a hormone deficiency. It is more common in females, & more common in older dogs, but I'll bet younger dogs CAN have it, too. There is a drug called PPA that can be used on males & females, & has very few side effects. Does he have any thinning of the haircoat along the insides or backs of his legs? That can be another indication of a hormone deficiency.

Never be afraid to get a second opinion, & ask all the questions you want. That's what those high prices are for.
