How long is your dachsie's snout?

Well..since a number of you have pointed out that my boy has a looooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg snout :) I decided to measure it. I know..I'm crazy. :D

From top to bottom (right below eyes) to the way bottom is 3 inches.

So..how long is your dachsie's snout? Inquiring minds want to know if Mr. Chief has an extraordinarily long nose. Maybe he's been lying too much like Pinocchio???:eek:

I voted for 2 inches but it's really 2 3/4 inches - not quite as loooooong as Chiefy's

with a tape measure again and he's thinking I am measuring or another coat and he says noooo waaayyyy mom. He's got a longer snout. Zeke has a 3 inch snout and Missy has a 2 inch snout. So Zekers and Chiefy have long noses. What about the rest of your pups guys.

Trixie has a 2 inch nose, Juney has a 2.25 inch nose, Bunny has a 2.75 inch nose, and Cooler has a 3 inch nose.

It must be the angle of the picture taking of Chief. :)

measure coming at him so I used a piece of thread to get the length and then measured the thread. The Rudy nose is = 2 3/4 in. Maybe Chiefy just has a "skinny" nose instead of a broad one???;)

Isobel has a honker nearly 3 inches long...wow! And L J has one at 2.25 inches; his is shorter and broader. Isobel's is more pointy. reminds me of an ant eater.:yikes:

Dog snouts here range from 2" to 3" with the Misty the largest snout. She is our needle snout and oh does she use it. Mirri is still a pup...so we could have a longer snout before long. My husband thought I was nuts last night measuring snouts, and excuse me! His measuring tape. At least next time HE wants it he will find it!

I voted for 3 inches... Peppy is a 3" plus a bit type long nosed boy, Kibby is 3", Tess is just under 3", Lucy is about 2.7", and Chico is a mix with a cute 2.5" nose.

Mackie, bless his heart, is a tweenie by judgement, but he's really just an awkward looking fellow. He only measures about 13" at the shoulder, but he weighs 14 lbs and is well over 36" long from tip of nose to tip of tail. His nose (if I measured right) is a little over 3 inches.

it looks like MACK beats Chief in the long nose department. Maybe we should have the two puppers side by side pictures of their snouts to REALLY see...

Is chief a mini or a standard? 'Cause, if he's a mini, I'd say he's definitely got my Mack man beat, paws down!

I always thought Georgie's snout was very long. He won't stay still long enough for me to measure it though!

Wow. I didn't know Chief was a mini. That is a long snout for a mini. My gracie is a mini and her nose is barely 2 inches!

And yes Meemo, as you can imagine, Georgie is hyper, adventurous, and independent - until he needs Mama to rescue him!

I had a really hard time measuring Mack's nose, because it scares him when you come near him with any kind of object in your hand. I'm sure that has something to do with his abusive past. He did not want to co-operate with me AT ALL. If I measured right, using a ruler, his nose beginning from the bridge ( the center, just below his eyes) to the tip was about 3 1/8". I found a pic of him from where I first got him (very poor quality, that's why I haven't posted it before), it's a up-close shot of his schnooz.

I posted this pic not to long ago when Mack was shot, you can kinda tell how long he is.

But, given his size, I think CHIEF is our bonafide long nose weiner!

Yup, mine is a puppy snout. His poppa however had about two inches, so I imagine since he is the spitting image, he will be the same.

Sabrina is a mini and she is at 3 inches

Roxy is a mini and her nose is three inches long and skinny. Also. since we're on the subject of noses she has a "dent" about a half inch from the end of her nose. If I run my finger along her nose from the bridge to the end the bone actually goes down in that area. I haven't owned a doxie before, is that normal? I wouldn't think so, but I am not sure. Is it a genetic flaw?:dog:

Cassie has a cute little pointy, slightly crooked nose... I will capture her and look for a dent.

Alexis has a 3" long snout. I never tried to measure Mario's since he is still a puppy & won't stay still long enough.

Didn't see this until at work today so didn't measure yet but both of ours have that nose dent. And our mix does also. I haven't ever noticed on other dogs so maybe it is a dachsie thing!

Well as best I could figure Josh's nose is 3 1/4" and Auggie's is 2 1/2". They weren't fond of this. Gabe I didn't bother; he is our mix and nose is not too long.

All of my dachsie's have the "dent" that you can feel. Kind of like the soft spot on a baby's head. I guess this is normal for dachsies.
