Xena hurt herself

Who knows how but she hurt her back (surprise in a dachsie). I think it is because she isn't weighed down by that extra fat now. She has taken to being very active.
I took her to the vet and she gave her predisone (same thing my zoi is on for his allergies). She has perked up and start wagging the tail again. Proceding to stealing the bones form the big dogs. She seems okay now.
But I have started giving her glucosime which I give my rottie for his hips. Has anyone tried this as a preventive for back injuries? It help is other joint problems and isn't the back like a big joint? I plan on keeping her on it since it won't hurt anything even if doesn't help.

Hi Pam,

Since Duck Butter had "the surgery" and Masse's spinal stroke . . . we have given them the glucosamine and have noticed how much it helps. (Both fully recovered)

We were just talking about putting Top Spin on it too . . . as a preventative for the hips. Our Vet likes the idea. Of course, if nothing ever happens how do you know that's what did it, but better safe than sorry.
