Since I know the topic of dog bites and homeowners insurance has come up before I thought the following link might be of general interest.

I have a female pit and a male pit/rott and have to carry $100k insurance on each one. I have it tacked onto my homeowners by a guy here in OH. Many of these policies only cover the "dangerous" dog on property, with a muzzle at all times, and with a six foot fence...some even require a cover over that fence--when I asked how you cover a backyard the man hung up on me. My guy covers off-property and as long as I have the six-foot privacy, all is well. You just have to be very specific in your questions as these insurance agents who do this type of coverage will not volunteer all the needed info. Many will not cover you if your dog leaves your property to even go to the vet!

Sad, but true. It is the irresponsible owners that give most other folks a bad name. We just practice common sense at all times... already have excessive homeowners insurance costs due to "mold" problems in Texas.

that if someone had a breed that was capable of serious injury, and it attacked a burglar that broke in, the burglar can turn around and sue the owner. He said it happens...so it falls under liability.
Over the weekend on another island, another child attack, fatally killing a 17 month old neighbor to the dog who was chained up, I believe in it's yard :(

I'm so sorry to hear that child has died. It breaks my heart and makes me want to thump and beat the owners of the dog. I hate hearing stuff like this.:crying:
