Gigi's CT class will start next week, I am so excited. The trainer sent out an email asking whether we would be interested in having our dogs to sign up for agility beginning class. I am wondering whether Gigi will be a good candidate. She just turned 5 months. She graduated from puppy class last Sat. BUT her attention span is very short... basically whoever has treat in their hands, you will find Gigi there. Apparently my treats are not as yummy (definitely not as big as the other owners for sure)as those in someone else's hand. She is a very active dog and she looooooooooves to jump. Even though she is not that attentive during class, when we practiced commands at home she is doing much better. Just when we are at class or another environments (outside home) she is not listening to me.
I guess my main question is does anyone have their doggie try agility. And do you think Gigi is a good candidate. I personally would like for her to try. But I am afraid we will become the clown in the class. Any suggestions/comments/ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

We haven't started agility yet- looks like it'll be June before we get any of ours in. The class we'll be taking is coined "Agilifun"- basically, just an introduction to the equipment and exercises. It's supposed to be a very fun class to take- and comes highly recommended from everyone I know who's had their dog through. I'm really looking forward to it!
I say- go for it! Chances are that the beginners class is relatively light- and it should be full of motivating fun. You may want to ask the instructor how intense it is, just to be on the safe side. But I've also heard that dogs with that go-go-go attitude and energy level tend to do the BEST at this type of thing- it might be right up Gigi's alley! :D

Lucy loves rally-O and beginning agility. We did several obedience classes first until she was reliable off leash. She loves tunnels, jumps, tires, weave poles and especially the treats that are used as bait. So far, we have not done a teeter-totter and the dog walk was a little scarey for her.

Merry LOVES her agility classes... she knows when it's Tuesday!! I've had to invest in tunnels and weaves for practice at home. It's fun for the both of us. This is the website of the place we go to. http://www.bestfriendsagility.com/index.html
It has some good information about starting out and gives you an idea as to the types of classes you should look for from any place you choose. The place I go even has a 'test drive' class which is a one night class just to see if you and your dog are really suited to it.
Give it a try... it's a great way to bond with your pup :bounce:
