My minuture dashshund, Scout was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc disease. It hit him all of a sudden. We couldn't afford surgey, so I have been looking for alternative ways to help him. If any one has any thoughts or ways to help. Please email me at sherri17@gateway.net ASAP!! Thank you, Sherri

I also put him in a warm bathtub to help him "swim" to help take pressure off. Mine, Chevy, was only in the wheelchair about 2 days before he was using his stomach muscles to pull his back legs up and walking. Keep the faith and just give your baby lots of love.

Sherri, there is an organization that pays for medical procedures that owners can't afford. Maybe they can help you. I will be able to get the name and e-mail for you tomorrow. Hang in there!

IMO surgery is far from the only answer. I don't even agree that it's the best answer at all...this is from personal experience. Many years ago I had a doxie who was totally paralyzed and not even able to urinate. We rushed him to a University vet hospital and they kept him there for over a month. No surgery just total crate rest and hydrotheraphy. He got 100% better and was fine the rest of his life. Then this year our Gaudi had severe back pain. Vet surgeon said to do surgery but I thought no. Gave him TOTAL crate rest for a month. He's been 100% ever since. I hope Scout is doing better. Think seriously about total crate rest.
