Dolly's Mom

About 2 months ago, we noticed that Maddie started wagging her tail sideways which put her long
body kind of into a C. She did this mostly when she was really excited or wanted to be picked up.
Since she didn't do this behavior before, I kind of wondered what was up, and filed that in the back
of my head. About the same time she started doing the sideways tail thing, I noticed that whenever
we would scritch the back of her back, she would scrunch up like doggies sometimes do when
something feels good or when they have an itch and like it scratched. She would also "roll" or her
back would when we'd pet her in that spot.....kind of like a cat does. I thought she just had dry skin
and started in on extra doses of olive oil in her food and once again kinda filed it all away on the
back burner of my brain. Well, about a week ago, I noticed that she WASN'T making the "rolling"
motion with her back anymore. Hmmmm. "dry skin" must be better. Then tonight the LIGHT went
on!!! I noticed that she didn't do the sideways tail anymore. Adding the rolling and sideways thing
together, my GUESS is she may have pulled a muscle or something in her back....hope it's not
anymore than that....and now it has kind of healed itself. She never at anytime seemed like she was
in any pain of any sort.
We don't have ramps (yet?) and she seems to consistently under attempt her
jump when getting on the futon. Can't be there all the time for the assist. Don't know if it's a coordination thing or something I should be concerned about. Her and the Dollers were really tearing up
about 15 minutes ago. Am I correct NOT to be too concerned about this? At least I THINK this
explains the mystery of the sideways tail. I posted this on another board I'm on and the concensis is I should get her into the vet right away. This has caught us at a terrible time financially speaking. The summer of very little work for me has caught up with us. She does seem very fine now. Should I get her checked out? Can they tell if somethings wrong if things seem right now? Does a "pulled muscle" make sense? People get muscle pulls and they heal. Can doxies get the same? Sorry this is long. Just want the best for my little girl but also gotta pay the mortgage. WHINE WHINE WHINE!!!
