1 year. We got Rodney New Yrs Eve 2007 and Texas 3 days before X-mas 2008. The main reason we got Texas was because I always felt like all animals need a partner-in-crime. Also, Rodney had (has) pretty severe separation anxiety and general anxiety, which improved greatly after we got Texas.

I got my first Dachshund Frankie 18 years ago....when he was 12 weeks old, I got Jesse James who was 21 months old, and then the lady who I got Frankie from called and asked if I wanted Frankie's half brother Sebastian who was 8 weeks old. I loved it....wouldn't have done it any other way....I've never had less than 3 doxies! They were so entertaining in the way they played with each other.....that's how I came up with the username "doxiefollies" And look at me now!!....it's all Frankie, Jesse James & Sebastian's fault....they made me fall in love with the breed!!

I got my first doxie mix when I was 12. her name was Zoey and I loved her to death. We had her for two weeks before she died unexpectedly I found her lying in our hallway covered in blood.. to this day I dont know what happened to her. I was heartbroken. I was just a little girl, and i watched her die in my arms. after I was done greiving over my puppy, I did some more research on dachsies... it took me three years to finally get one! I found Graci July 31st, 2003. she was only two pounds and fit in the palm of my hand. I fell in love with my new baby and the dachsie breed over all. I really didnt have a desire to have another daschshund while I had Graci. I was a teenager loving my own dachsie, and I was fine with that. Then when I was 20, and Graci was 5, I thought maybe it was time to get another dachshund. I had been thinking about it, and my parents actually said yes! I really wanted to find a reputable breeder so I could start showing, obedience, ect. so I found a nice lady and breeder in Chattaroy, WA, about three hours from my home. I began the three month process of meeting the Breeder, the mother, and the long wait for the pups to arrive. Milo was born August 2nd 2008. i brought him home in September. most people on here now about my journey to bringing my little guy home it was fun watching Milo grow from birth all the way till now.

and now I want another... lol. BUT- I know that it is really not a good time. my two are such a handful that I simply would not have time for another dog. but i do know one thing- I want to rescue a dachsie. preferably a special needs pup. a dog that probably wouldnt have a chance at being loved. everyone will tell you this.. dachshunds are like potato chips- you cant just have one!

We put a deposit on the only red female in the litter (because that was what we wanted after baby sitting a sweet little red female for a friend ). A few days later, we decided one was not enough, and put a deposit on the other female in the litter, a beautiful little black and tan. We have always felt that getting the two of them at the same time was the best thing we ever did.

Then one day, I walked into a pet store to pick up a sack of bird pellets I'd ordered, and saw the most adorable silver dapple female Dachsie puppy. I swore I'd never buy a puppy from a pet store because I didn't want to support puppy mills, but I bought her anyway. She is two years younger than the other two. She is the most entertaining dog I have ever known and has provided us with so many laughs.

I've always been open to getting another one, but hubby has always said there isn't enough room in the med or one more. However....... we just got a new king size bed last week; upgraded from a queen. I think there might be room, now.

Teak 11 years ago, then Stomper 1 month later then Rascel 6 months later (1998 and 1999). Silver and Dreamer were adopted in 2002. Abby was adopted in August 2008, then Lucky in Nov of 2008 and then Bella in August 2009. It is no real time frame here, just as one comes along that needs care and deceides never to leave us (Lucky) or one that calls to me on a website (Abby and Bella) or that come for fostering and I fail and just can not give them up (Bella). (I was in love with Bella before I fostered her and when she got here, it was love at first lick).
They just come and get adopted as they find us. We have 8 of our own crew and fosters come and go regularrly.

First I got Oliver from rescue, then a year later I got Tammy from rescue, then a year after that I got Hope. Personally I think two is the perfect number. They have someone to play with and share their doggy world with and they are together when you go out. I believe that I made Oliver's doggy world a much better place when I added Tammy.

3 months after getting the 1st dox because we saw how much she enjoyed the company of my mom's Golden. Then, after our 2nd it was about 3 more months & hub saw the ad in the paper for free to give away from a kennel, we called & rescued Squirty & ended up keeping him, & started rescue (fixed the other two as well as Squirt), then it was about 1.5 yrs later that we rescued Nel from being PTS because he was paralyzed....he was spose to be a rescue too, but we kept him too.

Molly happened Sept 22 09 via Craigslist and I became a Doxie sucker for sure! I mean head over heels for Molly after the first initial getting to know you month and realizing I needed to do much reading on temperament and such. We fostered a lil Corgi for a time, she got rather attached and after re-homing the Corgi Molly was pathetic. I couldn't handle it and shortly after BeBe came to us just last month. Was the BEST choice Aaron and I have ever made. They are HILARIOUS to watch when they play. I wouldn't have it any other way.
